I'm afraid Aion might not be for me reason: slow weapon swing speed no patient. they trying to make it western style and no doubt about slow weapon swing speed like western. i like asian artwork but it sadden me to see they copy western's slow weapon swing speed. Requiem is one of a rare eastern mmo that copied western's slow weapon swing speed. ff11 was slow as hell too but ff11 is not in this. unlike lineage 2, archlord, silkroad where it is hit.hit.hit.hit.hit.hit western is like hit..........hit...........hit...........hit...........hit..........hit even a two handed sword in lineage 2 it is fast while keeping the realisitc sense and speed. but in something like lord of the rings is so damn sluggish to the point that it is too unrealistic.... unrealistic speed... no one will wait 2sec after each swing to swing another 2sec... swing.... 2 sec..... swing....2sec.... swing...
Aion: - sense of damage impact is splendid - sound of damage impact is splendid - sense of overall attacking is splendid - great artwork like usual asian mmos - slow weapon swing speed like western
i hope that Aion will have plenty of active skill/moves so i can spam skill instead of starring at hit... wait 2sec...hit....wait 2sec....hit...wait 2sec.....hit

edit: hmm it looks like they spam skill most the time. is there a vidoe showing default attacking without skill use? well atleast we can spam skill almost non stop instead of starring at hit... wait 2sec.... hit.... wait 2sec... hit.....wait 2sec..... hit
one thing im sure i definitely dislike... is you must wait for the bar to go up to nuke out a spell. i like how Requiem does where it nuke out instantly no need to wait for bar to go up. |

Weapon swinging is something that happens rarely, since the combat is based mostly in skill chains. Cant find any high level video with weapon swinging. That assassin is soloing, so unless she made food for attack speed or something like that, it's default. And about insta casting, there are some insta casting spells. |

Actually, I think quite the opposite. I have played as an Assassin and a Chanter and both swung pretty fast. Infact, I've heard the exact opposite argument made that people are affraid this game will be a button masher since the timers are so fast in-between melee skills. The auto attack combined with the constant skills avaliable make this game anything but slow imo. Stick around and give it a shot, I'll bet you change your mind ^_^

stigma system ftw. I love the idea of my cleric learning abilities of other classes. one great feature of final fantasy that i wish more mmo's would employ. One avatar, many skills. |

This is pretty funny. I can tell from this post that you have never tried to actually use a medevil weapon. Go out and get a 15 pound greatsword and swing it at something (not just back and forth) a couple of times. Have someone time you and see how fast you swing. Or watch a movie with medeval style combat (not a we can fly around Jet Li movie), and see how fast they swing - Excalibur is a good example of that. Your preference is your preference. Just don't mistake it for realism. |

shows slow weapon swing. swing then stand idle doing nothing www.youtube.com/watch shows fast weapon swing. no idle. arms keep on moving and swinging www.youtube.com/watch
both video character using two handed weapon. look carefully. disregard skill. look only default normal attack swing. the first video oviously showing delay and idle of each swing during attacking progress while the second video show no idle at all during the progress of attacking.... arms keep on moving and swinging.
heres another refference showing slow weapon swing speed. two handed sword. swing.. idle doing nothing then swing... idle doing nothing... then swing. look at the character with white hair holding a two handed sword. the sword too heavy? cant swing fast in reality using medival weapon? well that is not it... look at it! it jus standing still idle doing nothing after each swing! if it is heavy and realistic it should atleast move its arms slowly while in the progress of attacking! but no! the progress of attacking is jus like a robot! swing once... stand doing nothing... swing again.... stand doing nothing.... swing again ect.... pc.ign.com/dor/objects/748723/warhammer-online/videos/warhammer_091508_rank_up.html
now look at this two handed sword weapon swing speed. fast foward to 00:40 to not waste time. www.youtube.com/watch

A sin holding a polearm... Nifty. I believe the stigma system took a page in guild wars book, where your character can wield anything if he has the right second class.
Beside, I believe the game will have skills to accelerate the swing rate, so don't worry. |
