I have been subscribed to this game for over 2 years and I don't even have a maxed out player. I don't play a whole lot but I do see this is in the top 3 of MMOs today. I have a daughter and she is 3 yrs old going on 4 in January. I created her a character named Pinky Ponytail and she has (almost all on her own) gotten up to lvl 5. She is having SO MUCH FUN! I have fun too. I just had to give a shout out to the community of CoH. One thing about CoH is that the developers haven't pissed off their subscribers like other games. |

You might find some disagreement around here on that last point. But I agree for the most part. In the early days the CoH devs were just about the best around in terms of communicating with the audience. It put the WoW crew to shame, certainly. Then around 2005 they faded a bit, you got the rare Statesman pop-in with a poorly worded statement. But for the last 2 years or so they have been better than ever, and you can really feel it in the community. 3yo is certainly a bit younger than is suggested on the box, but I've heard of a couple instances like that, where a young child is able to pick up the game surprisingly well and play with their parent. I've even encountered kids as young as 9 running around solo, but if the parents are smart they will insist that he or she ALWAYS make this known immediately to any groups they are in. Being about superheroes does in my mind make it a bit less violent, while still being interesting to us old people. :) Currently playing: |

Good stuff, I love CoH, I too have been a subscriber for over two years I sometimes go a few weeks without playing it but it is the best group MMO out there. I had to get an account for my 5 year old he loves it too, his highest level character is 12 which he has levelled all by himself. |

CoH is a personal fav for me as well. I've been playing for 3.5 years. My wife has been playing for 2.5 years, and my brother in law is at about 2 years. I wouldn't say "top 3", but I would say that it is certainly the easist MMOG to learn (especially for newcomers) and the top for group atmosphere. Some consider it an easy-mode MMOG, which is vaild to a degree. But, when it comes to bringing groups/family together from different walks of life, I think it's the best at being fun and adaptable for groups. |

The funny thing about CoX is that for me as a casual player, it's by far the best MMO. I've tried all the MMOs current, and they are all great games, but the trouble is the social gameplay in them is oriented around guilds, not so much around PUGs, so I end up mostly soloing. In CoX, in the nearly 3 years I've played it, I've very rarely soloed, I've usually teamed, simply because setting up PUGs is so much quicker and easier than in any other MMO. So for me as a cusual player who doesn't have the time to commit to guilds/sgs, CoX has fulfilled the main prerequisite of an MMO - being a social game, where I play with other people online. |

Actually, I think it probably does rank as one of the top three MMOs in the category of "non-medevil" theme. Even though you would think this game would be really popular among people trying to get away from all that elves and dwarves non-sense which rules the MMO world, it still shocks me how many people drag that stuff into this game. Just today I was playing an alt character in the hollows and these three really short guys came up to me. Based on their names it was obvious they were roleplaying as dwarves. My character towered over them and one of them demanded to know if I was an Ogre. *sigh* I just walked away. Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may. ~Mark Twain |
