Hello people! This is not WOW Didnt you notice that your enemy , if he stands still and attacks - he is automatically turning to face you ? Just thought to inform you ...
Now if you are Witchtard (you know the rogue classes) with positional attack, than i can see why are you running around. Or Shadow Warrior. But else you are killing your self with stupidity

circle strafing worked in WoW. In DAOC it worked with the run through /stick method. People don't realize it doesn't work here. What DOES work here is running combat. Most of your melee skills and some of your castable skills work on the move. Sometimes wacking someone then getting the hell out of the way can interupt the chains they are trying to pull off and do some good for you. Strafing really doesn't do anything, however. Lol. Sorry bunny hoppers.

lots of classes have attacks from behind or the side.. marauder,witchelfs witch hunts, shadow warrior, hell i even think swordmasters do. so maybe you should check your facts before posting your supreme knowledge of something.
EDIT. might not be SM maybe it was white lions but still.. you sir are in the wrong and make your self look stupid not these people strafeing to the side and behind. Well i guess you showed that already by calling ppl witchtards for playing a class they like.. grow up, you act like you are from the wow boards. |

Yeah running in combat seems to work the best for me as a shaman. I can heal and dps on the run. While there are spells that I need to cast standing still Im only sitting still till after the spell is done casting. So mostly Im running around all over the place keeping people alive and doing some damage on the side. |

so i guess i shouldn't continually circle my opponent to hit him from behind for 180 none crit attack. Hey maybe i will just stand there and fight him w/o moving at all, cuz if i circle to the back iam some "wow nub". Hell better yet i will just ask him to run away so i can get my attacks from behind, hrmm but there is still a chance it may look like iam strafing him if he turns or something.. Darn i cuz theres no choice but to reroll a class that doesn't have any back/side attacks. MYTHIC you bastards for making such attacks now everyone that plays those classes are wow nubs and have no skills at all. |

I circle strafe as a WP even though it doesn't help me (supposedly) I however, have yet to lose a 1v1 fight.. On'y had a good.. 8 or so of those, but 8-0 is still pretty good. Movement in general can frustrate your opponent, can make them attack differently, perhaps make them panic a little bit. It might not work on everyone.. but if it works on every fifth guy, that's better than never eh?
There is a lot more than skill and stats involved in this game folks. Think outside the box. Just because something doesn't seem logical to you.. doesn't mean it's illogical =) |

Ok man, let me break this down. If you are already in combat with someone face to face and you are beating on each other...you will NEVER HIT THEM IN THE BACK BECAUSE WHEN YOU STRAFE THEY AUTO FACE YOU. Now, If you understood that, Mr. I like to insult people's intelligence....follow this. Yes, you can hit them in the back to negate their armor and thus hit harder. If you can run up behind them and get the attack off, good for you. Here's another news flash. MELEE DPS LIKE MAURADER AND WITCH HUNTER ARE NOT MEANT TO FIGHT TOE TO TOE. You are supplemental damage, I.E. when your buddy is fighting a tank, you run up behind the tank and attack from the rear. That is the design of your class. Can you attack someone 1v1 face to face, mano y mano? Yes. Can you win? Yes. Will you get off your positional attacks? NO, not unless you can keep them from auto facing you. Another thing...you might want to consider. While you are strafing thinking you will get that back shot off, the other guy if he is smart just spams his attacks and allows himself to auto face you. His attacks are full power and yours are diminished for hitting on the move. Go back and read your patch notes. Striking while standing still gives you a bonus over people strafing you.

All melee dps classes have to do it. White Lion, WE, WH, Marauder, Shadow Warrior, Squig herder...ect I believe there is at least one or two attacks for all classes that give bonuses for attacking from an enemies side or behind. Circle strafing still works. Not all the time with NPCs but with players, who have to sometimes follow them. It also disorients the player, where a choatic battle gives them less time to think and more time to just react. They might not notice your ally coming up behind them for example. And lets face it, standing still is never fun in combat. |

I circle strafe as an Engineer but only to position myself so that the enemy's back is to a large cliff or drop .... then..the moment my morale ability comes up..boom! Off they fly and die. Hehe I tend to only use it for positioning myself ... I don't need to circle strafe if im going to stick n run I just run by and wack em and keep on going or lead them into a trap...*sighs gleefully* god there's nothing like sending a goblin shaman who's half life over the side of a wall to their death its like playing Gobbie Football or something *punt* and off they go lol |

I have seen reaper bolts hit them for under 100 damage, when any other class will take easily 300-400 damage.
