Blizzard has announced that character transfers from World of Warcraft's PvE servers to PvP servers are now available.

Providing a smooth and enjoyable experience for all players is always a priority for us, and we are continually re-evaluating our policies and programs to do so. As the state of the game has matured substantially since the inception of Paid Character Transfers, we will now be allowing PvE-to-PvP transfers on a full-time basis to provide players with more mobility and freedom to easily play with their friends.

Keep in mind that all of the other standard cooldowns and restrictions will continue to apply; we're just opening the option to transfer characters on Normal realms to Player-vs.-Player realms.

I don''t have to know how to make a better game, I only need to know where the "CANCEL" button is!

Do you hear it?  I hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the hardcore PVP crowd headed this way.

It looks like Blizzard is trying to offset PvP migration to Warhammer.

I levelled PvE because I was too carebearish to get ganked while grinding up levels.  Even I can understand how pissed players would be if they levelled up on PvP and had to endure PvE players migrating over.  I think this is going to make the less serious PvPers happy but the hard core PvP players, if they exist in WoW, might just feel motivated to leave for a level playing field.

Wonder what the low level populations on the PvP servers are going to be like now? Hmm...

Blizzard made a huge mistake introducing far too many pvp servers.  The came is rooted in pve, it was obvious from the beginning that pvp was an afterthought.

Obviously, Blizzard is doing this to keep people from quitting wow and coming to warhammer.  Unfortunalty, I think it's gonna backfire and cause a lot of the old pvp players to finally quit. I know that my pvp guild in wow are all very pissed with the change and have now decided to switch over to warhammer.  Bad move by Blizz I think, but theyre gonna get loads of cash just from transfers that will last them for the next year.

I've leveled several characters to 60 on a PVP server back when WoW first came out.  It isnt hard.  No more as hard than normal PVE servers.  You just have to be careful.

I like the idea, and if I was still playing, I would probally use it.  Why?  Gear has no matter anymore.  The arena gear is way more suited to the pvp scene than the tier gear.  That was the basical arguement back in the day about pve to pvp xfers.  "They lvled up without getting ganked and got Tier gear and that wouldnt be fair."

Well, I have a lot of friends on PVP servers.  I refuse to level any new characters, especially after obtaining Tier 6 and getting a murloc suit from Blizzcon.  =P.  So, it would give me a chance to play with those friends with said character.  Instead of re-leveling.

At level 70, its either PVP or farm all day.  Its the same on both PVP and PVE servers.  So why not?

Just my 2 cents.

Jatobi,

I like what you said in the rest of your post, I just wanted to point out, that even YOU admit in your last sentance up there that it is more difficult to level up on a PvP server than on a PvE server.

Saying that it's "no more as hard than normal PvE..." just isn't acurate, it's like you said, you have to be careful, you have to watch your back, it's nice to be in a large guild where grouping is easy for quest objectives in neutral or hostile territory... it is more difficult.

so, if the PvP'rs want to feel a little bitter about PvE'rs not having had to go through the same 'rights of passage' then they are 100% intitled to a little Angst.

Blizzards doing what Blizard does, it's making money, and for those PvP'rs that don't fly the coop and head on to Warhammer online, there will be more Grist for the Warmachine... (read Fresh Meat,) and those that are ready to shed their care bare like ways and dip their toes into the Big Boyz pool of blood, well, now they can.  They too may migrate over to Warhammer eventually, but still they will get their first tastes of it in WoW.

anyway, I liked most of your post, I just had to argue with your statement about the 'equality' of difficulty on the various servers.

thanks,

I am near speechless I played wow since Alpha. This is an insult everything they said they would never do they are doing just to try and make more money not caring about the players and only catering to the babies and whiners. I have moved to WAR its better PvE and PvP from what I have seen. It reminds me of how wow used to be and for those saying clone its not but it has the feel of what wow once was, not the casing for children it has become. This in my mind just sealed their fate. It will backfire but like someone said they will get an overload of transfers. Its not fair and its not right they say they don't fear WAR or anything of the such but if you noticed they have not only done this dirty trick, but they always start their TV commercial campaign before a huge MMO launch they did with AoC and LoTRO among others. They are getting to greedy for their own good.

I loved Wow don't get me wrong it did the single most greatest thing any game has ever done for me, I met the love of my life and fiancee on there. I will never forget wow but cannot stand to see it in the state it is now. Thank you for the great times Blizzard sad you got greedy and destroyed not only your game but the franchise.

Sincerely,

This right here.  WoW is losing subs at a pretty fair clip these days, unless I miss my guess.  Still king of the heap, but as people continually bleed off they're trying to stem the flow and milk some more cash out of them.  Warhammer is going to take a toll, and though Blizz is undoubtedly attempting to counteract that, they've consistently crapped all over pvpers through development, and they're going to find their pvp servers empty...great for pve transfers, woot!  lol

It's about friggin time. I don't play WoW anymore, but i have a 70 priest on both a PvE and PvP server. I do understand some players' animosity toward the change, but seriously, if you are on a PvP server, its because you enjoy PvP. And this new change is only going to give players more friends and enemies to PvP with.

i have levled on both pvp and pve, pve was by far easier, i used to have to hear my friend rant while he was on the pvp server we played on because while hes trying to summon someone, hes getting ganked,  the differences may be small at times but they still have a big effect overall, you work hard, get an instance group together, but have to wait for everyone to come from all over because everytime u try to use the stone to summon them, your getting attacked, or are to busy fighting off the opposing faction to be able to get some things done.

When i was in STV on my rogue while leveling her, if there was horde in the area where the mobs i needed were, i'd just camp them. which would then result in usualy someone crying and bringing 70's in and then you and the rest of your faction is getting camped for the next couple hours which causes u to lose alot of the exp you would be getting if u were on a pve server.

heck i've heard where you would see a huge battle outside of a raid. now instead of players working harder on a pvp server and then showing it off in pvp, we will have players that will lvl pve, get all their gear THEN go over and own, it all comes down to a balance that was kept when it was only PvE -> PvP

i've played this game (untill recently) for about 3+ years, seen alot of the changes. i was going to come back dureing WotLK but im not so sure anymore because the game is now been put on easy mode... everything is being made alot easier which leaves no challenge in the game...

their going about it wrong because their losing players to Warhammer because of its gameplay which is if i'm not mistaken, based around PvP for the most part. so WoW pisses off their pvpers and they leave for warhammer...

Somewhere deep inside, I'm glad about these transfers. Get all the goobers who gripe about how they should have rolled on a PvP server a taste of what it's really like. And maybe this will help rebalance the Battlegroups. If not, maybe it'll unbalance it so much that Blizzard has to do something.

Took em long enough.  Look, they did it for Fire's of Heaven guild something like 2 years or so ago.  If you had a large guild and whined and cried that you were going to leave they would do it for you.  This is one of the reasons I do not play wow and will not buy another blizzard product.  The reason why I objected to the FoH move and to this move, in spirit, is because the people moving from pve to pvp servers are complete and utter tools.  Oh, I don't wanna get ganked so I will wait til I have raided the hell out of everything gotten all the phat loots and then transfer to the pvp server because I need gear to make up for my total and complete incompetence.  Seriously, its not like there is that much game there to begin with, should grow a set and level from 1 up on the pvp server if thats what you want to play.
