Why write when you can talk.. Its much easier to cast skills and fight and just talk than while fighting typing..
But Vent is ugly, I think TS its much better.. I don't know but the 5 or 6 times I went to vent, the voices are very weird, non-natural.. and its not because of the server or their codecs because I tried many and with good kbs codec..
But I prefer talking over typing... You just can't do a war in a FPS with a clan without TS/Vent .. it's just insane.. unless you like to loose.. And I use TS like everytime I play a MMO, because me and my friends have a server and we're always ON.. so its like a MSN Messenger or a Xfire, because we login right when we turn the PC on.. because its much more simple...
Well.. thats my opinion, and all my friends' too

I personnaly don't mind vent but me and my friends don't require anyone to ever use it, but we like to hang out on it and BS. Some people ask us if we have one if we are doing a dungeon or something and we let them know if they wanna use it or not but forcing people to use it is bad really. Also we stream a music and stuff into vent hehe, we were doing a raid once and had spaceballs the movie playing =P, most guilds would freak we just have a good time weather we wipe or not hehe. The system we have right now of doing nothing isn't working. All the games are doing is letting the players sort it out, but the problem is that the players don't want to sort it out. They would rather everyone else they play with conform to their expectations, which just ain't going to happen. People aren't going to stick a headset in their ear simply to group up with a bunch of strangers. Likewise, people aren't going to go through the "extra work" to type to someone when they don't have to. The solution to this is so simple that I'm surprised it hasn't been done. Have the producer designate some servers as "ventrillo," some as "teamspeak," and some "text only." They can reduce or increase such servers as the demand requires. You see, I'm not sure we can expect people who use TS or Vent not to use it just because some refuse to use it. By the same token, we can't expect people who are disgusted by it to use it simply because some players demand it in order to play with them. But what the games can do is let the players place themselves in a play environment where everybody communicates in the same way. If players aren't willing to communicate with eachother, there's no point in putting them in the same game server anyway. So then, make sure everybody who communicates in a certain way is on a server where everybody communicates that way. Problem solved.

Yeah I think promoting some servers as text chat only is a good idea. |

I've never understood why people complain about guilds rules, if you don't like them, make your own. |

never had a problem with people and vent, im in a pretty tight guild and i know everyone, and even still when i go into other guild raids and their vent, it really isnt that bad, you just dont let little things bother you. I can live without vent, and i dont mind using it. |

Well lets see. 1. Any guild doing so would be in violation of the rules and most likey banned if caught. Which would not be that difficult to do. 2. I'll take any good text only guild over a guild that uses Vent/TS any day of the week. Seeing as text is much more flexible and properly set up actually easier to use than voice.
Why is it everyone thinks you are sitting there typing every thing out during a raid? You don't, you have everything hotkeyed. From general raid briefings to add warnings. In the time it takes a person to say one sentence in Vent. I have briefed my entire raid, given specific instructions to several groups and we are off and going already all with a single keystroke or mouse click. I can have multiple ongoing conversations simultaneously and if I miss something I can just scroll up on that particular chat box to see what I missed. Do vent/TS guilds record all their raid chat for post raid analysis? I just parse my chat logs for that days raid and can go over them with other officers looking for things we can improve on, or what we did right .

I don't even think the provider would have to ban the voice users. A server transfer would suffice, or disbanding the guild. Besides, the disadvantages outweigh the perceived advantages when a voicing guild sets up on a voice free server. This means anything the guild does is strictly limited to the ones in the guild. There won't be anyone to replace guild members if some quit. If the guild disbands, there won't be any other guild to go to who use voice. All communication with anyone outside the guild is going to have to be in text, which means it will be difficult for the voicing guild to form pick-up-groups, or add temporary help when members aren't around. Plus, I honestly think that the ones who would benefit from voice delegated servers are the ones who use voice. That way, they know that everyone who is on the server is ready to jump in a pick-up-group, barter in chat, and possess the prerequisites to be recruitable in their guilds. Everyone on the server shares their prefered voice software, so there isn't any compatability issues. The communications barriers that we have imposed on ourselves is disrupting the experience for everyone: TS, Vent, or text-only alike. __________________________ "...when it comes to pimping EVE I have little restraints."
