Sources have told GamesIndustry.biz that NCsoft is preparing to trim staff at its European office in Brighton, and cancel the game in development there. According to a number of sources close to the company, around 50 staff will be let go following the decision to stop work on the untitled MMO, a game that was announced this time last year when the office underwent significant expansion. The same sources said that the company's troubled MMO Tabula Rasa will be discontinued at some point in the coming months due to continuing poor subscriber numbers. However, although NCsoft shed some staff last month at the Austin office where Tabula Rasa was developed, rumours that the office would be closed and Tabula Rasa discontinued proved unfounded. An official statement is expected from NCsoft soon.

This game will get shut down probably sooner than later. They did it with auto assault. This isn't SoE they don't keep a graveyard of failed MMO's alive with stupid all access memberships. NCsoft already said this game is a total financial disaster for them so why would want to pour any more money into it. If your still playing this game your wasting your time imo. |

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |

All games will be shut down at some time. If you like a game then you should keep playing it even if it is to be shut down the next day. I did try Tabuls Rasa but it was not my type of game. Others no doubt like it but probably not enough to keep it afloat. |

MMOs require more reasoning and imagination than most stereotypically ''adult'' activities. |

MMORPG's differ from single player games in many ways but most importantly in the way you can become attached to your characters as they can survive as long as the MMORPG does. If TR is cancelled, your characters are deleted forever. If you play MMORPG's because you like developing a character over a long time then it might be considered wasting your time to play a char in a MMORPG which is doomed to be cancelled soon. I still miss my Auto Assult and Earth and Beyond characters. |

TR will probably limp long for another year but I really don't see it making it past the three year mark. TR most likely doesn't even have 50k subs at this point considering in the last report for Q1 it was hovering 70k and they still have done exactly jack with adding new content to this game. |

To me this was a game just not ready to go, much like the others. Back when EQ and WoW came out. Ya they had bugs. But they was really hitting new grounds. The bugs coming out in games now is more just stupid mistakes then something new. ![]() |

Well this game still has potential! Richard Garriott and his team really should continue to work on this game and release expansions. |

This game was all hype, because have the same of the creator of ultima online... even ncsoft invest too much money on this project.... what really shocks me is all this years of development and all this millions... and in the end you have this piece of ........ Now I understand this was justa vampiric move from someone to get money, the enough money needed to go into a vacation in space... They did the suck well, hype,, name from previos games,, show some new stuff in a superficial mode... nothing else... it was just name... This is like a vaporware... only that they release it to get the millions in the pocket... NCSoft... plz... concentrate on AION... forget about this... other scifi mmos are comming like.. stargate, startrek and earthrise... dunno which one is the best for me yet... |

From what you can read here, you've got a great deal. The first 2-3 weeks are supposed to be great, then you can go on to something else. |

I beta tested TR and I said many times that I knew it wasn't worth $50 to buy (or $100 CE) but the day after Christmas I saw it in EB GAmes for $9 so I grabbed it, played until Feb, I knew it isn't the game that could keep anyone long past level 30.
SWTOR: sub ended, no thanks to Georg Zoeller! |

I was very tempted to pick up TR just after it lauch because a few of my gaming friends said it was the coolest thing they had ever played. I had read a few first impressions here stating just about the same thing, but then for whatever reason the game has a steep fall off in interest. "What you see is what you get, nothing more but a lot less on the top end"... is what someone told me. I don't think I'll ever play another game from launch because you can't believe first impressions, the fanboy hype (in AoC's case.. fanboy lies), and the unrealistic miracle apologists. Hearing people call TR "the best game they ever played".. well you see where I'm going. |
