WoW, long time no see from famous wow-troll memoir. And Vicksburg aka TeamFortress is backing it up. Usual "blizzard is world wander" s**t and WAR bashing. Guys, get it, your WoW is crap for every player who likes pvp - I mean real mmorpg player, not kid who never has tried anything beside WoW and thinks that he is hardcore pvp-er. And if you want to troll just use your brains, because your trolling is just beyond the stupid. |

Thank you for your in-depth, unbiased professional review. Even thought I have been playing for several months and I have been loving it, I am now going to quit because of your review, I can see that your superior intellect is greater than my first hand experience. Thank you for showing me the errors of my ways, I will now save time and money all thanks to you. |

Actually, no. If you read the original post, the OP compares WAR to WoW himself in the first post. I'd rather have a game get more fun as time goes on than pull an AoC be fun at the beginning and then stop soon after. I'm having fun in WAR now in the early levels. I don't see the issues the OP mentions as anything major. I guess I'm not as picky maybe (no, this is by far not my first mmo for anyone who'd like to make that type of snarky comment). |

I actually think the review or first impression is fairly accurate. You may question the OP's motives based on previous posts but his points in this thread seem to mirror many other peoples opinions including my own. The graphics are fairly average and the animations are not that great. These are real problems in the game. If you don't care about how a game looks thats fine, but it's unfair to suggest that because you don't care then no one should care. I think its also true that everyone looks the same within a given career. It's true that in the end game in wow everyone also looks the same because everyone wants the same gear, but I don't think that is true while leveling in wow. In WAR my sorceress has had 4 different "robes" lvl 1-10 and they are all the same models with different colors. It's just not that interesting. Again, there will be people that say "so what? Who cares about what you are wearing?" But, there are people who care, and they have a right to their opinion and a right to express it. I think WAR is pretty good. I don't see much innovation. I have not been hooked by it, but I think the developers did a pretty good job from what I have seen in the first 10 levels. I'm interested to see how the other RvR elements play. The Scenarios are ok, but not any different from BG's. People need to accept that not everyone thinks that WAR is going to change water into wine. Not everything about the game is perfectly excecuted. I think that the devs have stuck to the basic vision of a PvP/RvR game and hopefully that vision will allow players to have some fun. That seemed to be ONE of the big flaws with AoC, the devs had no real vision for the game, but hyped it to be revolutionary in every possible aspect. Mythic has been very straight forward in what people should expect from WAR and that is a very good strategy. |

Hi Guys, Good advice to all of yous: 1. Don't read reviews from people who only played the first few levels. That goes for quests, pve, pvp, gameplay, graphics, the whole lot. 2. Game changes and expands very very quickly past Rank 7-8 from your first proper Warcamp. This is where you get to train your Renown Rank Ablities (quite separate to Rank abilities and Skill system). 3. At around Rank 7-8 you gain access to the Flight Master and through that the starting zones from the other races AS WELL AS you Capital City. 4. Graphics. a) This is BETA. Graphics are turned down and there is an issue with textures in the distance not loading properly, the reason why they seem so blurry. It will hopefully be fixed for release. b) Due to the issue in a) some areas with a lot of rock terrain and mountans will look ugly. However forest areas with vegetation look nice, and buildings and structures and inside areas overall look very good. Check out Altdorf or Inevitable City with AA/AF forced through drivers and ONLY THEN talk about graphics. They do not suck a little bit, compared to WoW this is a great improvement. c) Scenarios. For some reason, the texture loading issues seem less visible in Scenarios. Orc starting area scenario isn't very impressive visually, but jump on a Wyvern and fly to the Chaos area (Nordenwatch if I'm not mistaken) and play the Scenario there. I think that visually it's QUITE IMPRESSIVE. 5. The number of available quests and options multiplies by 3 or 4 as soon as you reach Rank 7-8 there is just so much to do and the game really picks up in pace. More abilities become available and combat is ANYTHING BUT SLOW. It's tactical though, finally Tanks have a role in PVP. I'm one so I can tell. And it's all about choosing the right choke points and tactics as opposed to hitting 4-5 directional buttons for one skill. Just my 2cents. I've got a lot more to say but want to stay focused and keep the message clear: - don't judge the game too early before you get to see it properly - try out various scenarios especially the one in Chaos area (Nordenwatch). For some reason it has less graphical issues and shows the potential of WAR in terms of graphics better than some other areas or scenarios - around level 7-8 there's plenty of new options that open up to the player in terms of PvE, PvP and character advancement. Hell, I had no clue there were separate Renown abilities until I stumbled across a trainer in my Warcamp! - check out Capital Cities with AA/AF on high if you can, they are quite impressive imho |

First of all, you wouldn't write a complete report. You couldn't, actually, since the OB client is still a performance client with a lot of things missing (Mostly graphics-wise). Second, you can't enter the house because it would be futile. its burning, after all, isn't it? And with you saying that, I rest my case about the "looking up every small detail" I was on about. Third, name me any other MMO that apparently does have your so called "mob intelligence". Sure, I see your point. I'd love some more "involvement" from NPC's, but at this point, I don't see why it would make WAR any less interesting than whatever MMO. Fourth, if it didn't matter to you, you wouldn't have started about it in the first place. Am I right? But I agree, very trivial. And lastly, yes, you posted what you saw. Again I emphasize your pre-concluded (Is that even a word?) opinion. It's like me trying out Neverwinter Nights 2(which I loathe) and telling people on the NWN2 forums how much I find it to be "Meh". It's quite useless. Opinions DO matter by the way. It's just that most are based on emotions, rather than facts. "Skill has not cool downed!" |
