I'll vote on this game when it actually produces a beta version, until than, it's still just vaporware to me. I'm not saying I hate Darkfall, I'm just not convinced yet at all that it even exists. It's whole production has been sketchy at best and Aventurine is way too tightlipped for me to trust anything they say as they are not a well known gaming company.

On a scale of 1 to 10, in my opinion, Darkfall gets a big fat N/A.

I'm excited, Darkfall is going to be my first mmorpg since I played Medievia (an old MUD)

Seeing the community rally like this makes me very hopeful it will come out soon. Glad to see it at #4.

Is there some kind of "dehype war" going on here between the fans of various games? I noticed that every game in the in development list on the front page is getting dehyped, even Warhammer.

It makes me think the traffic figures are a better guide to the buz surrounding a game rather than the fan-spammed hype meter.

Not sure if this is mentioned anywhere, but I've noticed DFO's rating has dropped significantly in the last few days.

Reason?

SImple. Alot of non-dfo's have caught wind of this and are cranking it down solely to put their own mmo's higher in the listings. I can't prove it, and don't care what they think. Once DFO is out they'll eat their words and realize that the reality is waiting for a whole week or longer to get a key for OB will be typical (such as it is now for me to kill time by trying to get a key for WAR).

I don't need to label people, nor do I need to be merciful to those that don't understand. Find out the hard way, and deal.

I can see two types of MMOs in production at the moment.

Wow clones, looking to copy blizzard ,and get their slice of the pie. Warhammer and mostly every up coming mmo are examples of these. This is basically unoriginal garbage that offers nothing new.

and..

Games that deliver something new, that isn't available in the market (in a fantasy game) at the moment. Darkfall is the obvious example of this, as well as perhaps Mortal Online and Earth Rise.

The wow gear/level carebear treadmil model is obviously something that works, but I want no part of it. It doesn't interest me in the slightest. That there exists people willing to piss away years of time to continually upgrade a number on their gear within that game, I think, says something quite sad about gamers these days. One of the recent pure pwnage videos touched on this - gamers these days are basically spoilt, and would rather continually consume the mc donalds of games, without actually having to think, or in any way involve that which is between the ears. Bring back games that exist for the.. GAME PLAY.

 You do know there was a thread stating "Darkfall is coming" on these very boards. It was dated Sept of last year. At the time the fans swore up and down just as they do now. that the game would be out by the end of the year or early 2008.

  Sorry i just can't buy your hype anymore. Darkfall may indeed be coming the question is will it be in any of our lifetimes. Still no UI shown in the video's (how eaxactly are they "playing" the game?) and no real media has seen it. (well there was one guy this year "yellowbeard" that said he saw it, and one guy last year think it was "ash" or some guild leader.) Yet the fans spout that "Lots" and "Many" have seen it, and that its "Coming" as well as it has "amazing game play" Lol wonder when they played it, and of yeah "its as sandboxy then SWG ever was" Once again all these truths seem to have come from the recent video, and the fact 2 people have reported they have actually seen it. No I'm not forgetting some greek magazine supposibly saw it and the really old report from womens gamers from a few years back

  Vaporware? No I'm not saying that (never have) Greatest game ever? personally I'd not say that from what little info / videos have been released, but do wish you fanbois the best of luck. If DF is great it might be a shot in the arm to all MMO's ( plus all the gankers, and griefers will have a game to play )

DF on the other hand brings many old qualities back that has been forgotten since (UO/AC-DT), and adds a shitload innovations on top.

This is why I hype it, I want people to try a sandbox mmorpg, because its a whole different experience compared to the the EQ/Daoc/WoW/Aoc spreadsheet mmorpgs. Its like a whole different kind of game, and I really want people to try this out.
 

 Problem is your hyping it without ever having played/beta'd it. In other words you could be lying as you don't know that any of the statements your making to Hype the game are true. Yes you want them to be true, you might even believe them to be true but you have no proof. This unfortunately doesn't stop you from making statement you would like to be true as fact

   As you said you "really want people to try DF out" however reposting what the Devs say as fact without any proof makes you look alittle sad. Though I admit not as bad as the fans making up statements like "The game play is incredable" when no one here has actually played/beta'd the game.  The whole "This is the greatest game ever! What no, no I haven't played the game but I saw a video/read the Faq and Its the greatest game ever!" mentallity is probably what gets me the most.

I don't believe this is true.  I believe the MMORPG crowd wants to see DF extremely badly, but has been let down over and over with empty promises and lack of observable evidence to the existence of DF.  I think the "crowd" just wants to see the game released and is sick and tired of waiting, resulting in a negative outlook on DF. 

I'm sure the gear obsessed, level-based carebears have a little of resentment for DF because they fear anything that doesn't allow you to play a game with little due regard for their characters life.  In other words, they can't just run in a dungeon and die with no consequences because in games like DF they just don't fit in due to the risk/reward systems.

I've never been a player of shitty looking mmos. But I have to say this game looks fun and will give it a shot. Honestly graphics are on par with warhammer and the gameplay is not for slow retarded fucks that needs 10 sec to react.
