I play to have fun, not to win or be the best.

"High rewards for kills. To avoid any RWT issues the reward for a successful PK will be generated by the game, similar to when you kill a monster at the moment. We're creating generous drop tables based on factors like your levels and the impressiveness of the kill."

I think you all are reading it the wrong way. The news post said that it would be "similar to", not the same, as monster drops, meaning that the drop from killing a lvl 100 player might not be the same as killing a lvl 100 monster. It also says "at the moment", posibly implying that the system for pk drops might change between now and the release. Lastly, the "impresivness of the kill" could imply that depending on what you do during the fight and how you're equiped might afect what you get if you win. (ex: you are level 70. Other player lvl 70. He where's rune while you where iron. If you win, you'd get more stuff than he would because you won in crudy armor.)

These are just different ways of looking at the same thing.

I lost all my dignity a long time ago.

Until we play the PVP update for ourselves there is no way of being sure.  We have to wait and see how badly Jagex handles it, and then we can rant away.

I agree with Mike we just have to" wait and see."  The example you brought up brings potential problems. see My lvl 70 was a barrage ranger.. which is harder to kill than some even stat noob. I did not need armor, and killed much higher oppenents with her.  though my lvl 70 would be a more impressive kill than your average lvl 100 would whoever had the ability to take her down be awarded accordingly? Keep in mind I had killed 120's with this same lvl 70.   Barrage and dboltz was insanely effective against melee.  I usually killed about 20+ people before even needing to bank in the wilderness, so I would think they will have to calculate every level into the impressiveness of the kill not just combat levels.

I suppose I am being a bit too negitive about it, but I'm just fusterated how they seem to release everything half-baked lately, then come out with a new update before they fix it. I'm just expecting another half-baked PvP system, and then they'll come out with toenail clippers which will take them a week to program, all the while ignoring the problems with the PvP. I suppose I should be a little more neutral on the issue until they actually release it.

But still. The sense of orginality is gone. The sense of expectations of suprise is gone. All I can say is, its just another excuse. Though it may gain a few players back, the long term goals of it would be a failure. We don't want another carbon copy of clanwars with a little sugar on the top. We want real PK. The real deal. The freedom. The excitement.Yes, the excitement. And most of all; "what we see is what we want". NOT;" what we don't see is what we want."

Oh well, half baked stuff can still be eaten, but they are spit out right away. And btw, ive noticed that they don't update the game weekly anymore. More like monthly now. Im not so sure. Probably so. Please correct me if im wrong.

I think they do update it weekly, but its usually with small updates. I've noticed they usually have about 2 or 3 big updates a month on average. But I do have to agree that recently their updates are all half-baked. They are also targeted to kids under 12. I suppose they figured that kids under 12 are more gullible and therefore make up their best customers lol.

I agree. Well, runescape once had glorius days where both youngster and adult shared the fun. *sigh*.

Just like the Evil Tree

25th February 2009 - Evil Tree

Strange things are afoot in the woods around RuneScape. An unusual sapling has been seen sprouting among the trees, and it’s growing at an alarming rate. Aided by a familiar-looking farmer, you could help encourage this burgeoning seedling - but keep an axe and tinderbox handy because it could become…an evil tree!

For the lumberjacks and fire-starters among you, this distraction and diversion offers a new way of training your Firemaking and Woodcutting skills; and there are other rewards up for grabs, too, including seeds, logs, birds’ nests, and gold. Like the Shooting Star, evil trees will only stick around for a limited amount of time, so make sure you don’t miss them or you’ll be waiting a while for the next one.

...And if you find yourself face to face with an evil tree without your axe, miles from a bank, don’t worry! The helpful leprechaun has all the tools you’ll need. He might even bolster your rewards with a special ability that will automatically bank any logs you don’t have the space to carry. This perk will last for between five and thirty minutes, depending on your performance.
