Well, I've seen a lot of debate flare up about the graphics, or apparent lack thereof, in Warhammer Online. I decided to post a few screenshots with the graphics options available during PW+ completely maxed out, along with AA and AF forced to 16x through the nVidia console. I also pumped up the digital vibrancy (if anyone has an eye to catch it) to about 25-30%. Hopefully people can arrive to an objective conclusion - IMO, the graphics don't look bad, but they don't look fantastic - that right in-between is more than enough to keep me content.

I'm assuming it's alright to post these, since the NDA has been lifted for quite a while. I also welcome everyone else to post screenshots of their own. I can post more if the demand is there.

Some quality may have also been lost through the screen capture process - FRAPS isn't that good. If anyone can recommend a better capture prog, please do.

totally unrelated but what class is that high elf? a sword master?

I have a 8400 Wolfdale,4 gigs of ram and a ATI 4850.   I hope I can run it that nice.

Yes. A pretty fun class, if you ask me - but then again, I tend to play/love the typical tanking archetype.

My rig:

E6750 Core 2 Duo

nVidia BFG 9800GTX

2GB OCZ RAM (I forget the CAS latency and the DDR2<#>)

My setup is pretty cheap and basic - you'll be able to run it at these specs easy.

I can try it out with FRAPS - I'll post a link when I get it done.

They don't look bad at all. As long as the game can run smoothly with that quality on most cards, I think they will have made quite an accomplishment.

Graphics looks more smooth than with default high settings in Closed beta. I'm just wondering how orcs/chaos will look with that settings, becasue even before they look amazing till elves (both high and dark) was looing  a bit choppy and unfinished...

I have an 8800gtx that I max out and only start to stutter with a lot of people on the screen (and I mean a lot of people).  Of course there is the occasional hickup here and there but that happens in all games.

You have nice enoght system to run any current game with max settings what we have to talk about WAR where grahics requirements are much lower than ,much lower than mid end system.

In my opinion, the environment graphics arent so bad. They sort of remind me of the darker areas of LoTRO.

The structure graphics at times seems similar to WoW, except the architecture seems to have a bit more time spent on it than in WoW.

Character graphics are probably the weakest part in my opinion. The seem kind of reminiscent of Lineage II. They definately look more realistic than WoW's, but there is something about them that is a bit off. I think mainly some of the animations need some work. Character graphics does seem to improve with better looking armors though, of course.

If they work on enhancing the animations I will be happy with the graphics. How a game looks in motion means alot more to me than straight up picture quality. Especially in a game like this where you have so many characters on screen at once, good animations will make for some truely amazing visuals.

your screenshots look horrible because they are scaled down by the browser, please fix. also the default gamma is to bright, adjust it in your control panel overrrides.

gameplay > graphics.

Not too cartoony, very nice.

Mythic gave big updates to the graphics engine in DAOC several times, (character models was redesgned from scratch in one of them)

I think that posting screenshots from the native 1680x1050 resolution would be a little unwieldy, but I can leave them alone at next posting. What you're perceiving to be bright gamma is probably a result of the digital vibrancy, which is more or less a personal preference - but I can also tone that down, too.

Even after the resolution is smothed, the models for the game are laid bare: there is zero level of detail in WAR. If WAR hopes to outdo WoW, it could of atleast outdone it in this respect. While graphics should be backseat to gameplay imo, all it takes is a dedicated art team, who will put a more effort than blizz's, to add that little bit of detail.

I think pretty much anyone could've realized that the screens are of a low-level character. Go look at some of the high-end Chosen screens and tell me Blizzard has more details in their models.

Cool pix! Cant wait until Sunday when EU beta starts. A pity it is so short for us tho.

I must say I find WAR looks much better now, so I am kinda convinced, where I was sceptical once.
