They sure suckered me in. Now that I think back on it, the 3 months or so that I played is one of the longest stretches faith/hope I've ever had, believing/hoping that a bad product would eventually improve and even be really good. |

I sure as hell were not going to allow that to happen to me again when it came to AoC. After the euphoria of release day wore off, and the beer goggles were gone, the signs were there. 1) It wasnt just WoW with Conan running around 2) it wasnt the popular game with the in crowd of geeks that think they are the cool crowd, so when it was reveled that it wasnt just WoW with Conan running around they felt massive betrayal. 3) it wasnt just WoW with Conan running around. 1) Fundamental aspects of the game unfinished/bugged. (gear/statistics/feats) 2) Piss poor customer support. Forums run by a bunch of facists. 3) Overhyped combat system, touted as revolutionary but actually turns out to be boring and repetitive. 4) The lies. Goddamit. And their arrogance. "We feel the launch went amazing" WTF? oom, broken stats, no AH, exploits, many many broken quests. 5) Lack of content and tbh the game just weren't that fun to play. |

Didn't know AoC failed.. But as long as the forumists at MMORPG.com is continuing to spread hate towards a game they obviously do not play anymore, It may fail eventually. Come to think of it, what good or use do we have with these kind of posts that can be seen here on a daily basis ? All I can see right now is that there seem's to be some sort of competition among the forumists, who writes to best "I hate Conan post" without actually saying just that "I hate Conan or I hate Funcom ". Never seen so much useless crap on a forum ever.. Move on and get something better to do with your time.. /junker |

Better do with our time? We bought the game and as customers wer´e more than entitled to criticize the lack of quality in the finished product as percieved by the customer base. That´s not blind hate that disgruntled customers talking! Something a company should take very seriously. 1. Heavily instanced and cramped areas. 2. Scrapping of original combat system. 3. Deception and lies. |

No I do not like it !! And yes I can avoid the negative posts as you said !! But for some years now MMORPG.com had been a valid and good forum regarding MMO's, like all my other MMO's played I have always had MMORPG.com as my second forum regarding the current game played. Again, in what way do you see this thread as useful ? What purpose does this thread have ? Or are you saying that this post will help Funcom solve their problems by looking into it !! They are aware of the problems already, there is NO need for these type of posts, aspecially on MMORPG.com wich isn't even an official forum for AoC. Just check the Video interview in 2 parts at this site, they are AWARE of all the problems. /junker |

Developers need to learn that while some people accept this, other people will not. as to why I post here about why AOC failed (me) Opinions here are uncensored, you have your and I have mine, we can post on Funcoms forum and others will read how you like the game, I can post about how I dont like aoc and the post will be deleted. |

Honestly security had to escort one ...psycho for lack of a better term from the last Gen-Con because he felt like it was his moral duty to shout threats at one of the AoC devs. The conduct on these forums hasn't been much better, |

MMOs require more reasoning and imagination than most stereotypically ''adult'' activities. |

I agree with some opinions that the game may actually survive but as to why it is not giving a good experience to customers. 1)Leadership the problem they have here is they hada bad launch after building some big hype once before the difference here was that conan was an established ip so it was much easier to build interestin this game than AO but when a company repeats these same mistakes this often it is obvious that from the top down they are making the wrong decisions. 2)Lack of content it amazes me more aren't appalled that for all these years the best they came up with is an introduction since there is something wrong with everything that comes after tortage. 3)Direction The only clear plans they seem to have to fix this mess are all wrong you only have really two things that you know from them they are working on one is DX10 which I almost sympathize with them on since they advertised it and angered many by not having it ready but graphics is the only strong suit the game has so it is only logical that in the end it can only have minimal impact on fixing things then you have an expansion pack this makes absolutely no sense proposing to ask the consumer to spend more money when you don't have control of what you already sold them is wrong but says only that they are desperate, clinging to the hope that they can do what they did at initial launch and fool many into spending money with them. |

1. Anywhere pass nub zone was very dull, and not what funcom promised. 2. PvP doesn't play a big part at all. 3. Feats, imo, didn't help very much at all.

1: The game is bad. 2: Attracts and holds simple folk who make a bad community 3: The game is bad. |

I'd had my eyes on Age of Conan since may 2005 when i first herad about it from a Guild friend in SWG. I was so looking forward to it, the devs announced content that made me want the game that second and i'm a very patient person. I pre-Ordered not long before Launch and when the game went live i found the Tortage area to be excellent, after seeing and experiencing this starter area i knew the game would be all it was described to be.. More fool me.. within a month of playing the game i was already getting bored with it, it was the exact same thing as every other MMO except how combat was handled, fair enough i was getting sick of point and click and thought it would be a good change, i quite the game after about 2 months, i'd got my Conqueror to level 52. i can't say i experienced the crafting side of things as there is no crafting system to the game, collect so many of this and click your recipe book, item made no matter where you are. ZERO experimentation and nothing like what the devs first announced crafting to be like, graphics of the game were outstanding though.. whoopee!!! i payed £25 for graphics and spent an extra £10.49 to find the game a repetative sequence of see this guy, kill that, rinse repeat.. If i wanted that sort of thing i'd have stayed in LotRo which at least had decent PvP and even the crafting made you think more than AoC's crafting system. Final Thoughts - AoC was hyped about too much by the Devs, it was released way too early even after so many delays, the devs concentrated on graphics more than gameplay and finally the devs have decided to work on an expansion so soon after launching an unfinished game which tells you something about who makes the decisions. Note to potential buyers - DON'T GET AoC, if it's still going after 3-4 years then consider buying it. Till then if you want Fantasy go to Lord fo the Rings online, if you want Space sim go to EVE or play Freelancer online, if you want a decent game where the devs care about the gameplay and you want a good community go to City of Heroes. |

1. Lack of content at higher levels 2. Clueless Itemisation 3. For me, the worst crafting in any game I have played. |

1. Poor itemization, the stats are meaningless and the armor looks like complete crap. NPC's have better looking armour than most of the high level players. 2. Nerfs, PvE is being nerfed to death to balance 1 on 1 PvP, the real kicker is that mobs don't seem to be getting scaled back with us. So the balance in PvE is completely out of wack. 3. Catering exlusively to the PvPers. |
