In short, Planetside is like Counterstrike, but on a global and more meaningfull scale. If you played Counterstrike, imagine playing 30 rounds on 9 maps, everytime a certain side wins, you get benefits associated with that map : advanced tech, shields, repair, etc. This way its not that pointless to capture bases, but it isn't overpowering either. If you lose an important base its bad, but not hopeless. As in CS, PS has a string tactical and strategic side. A defending side that is outnumbered 2 or even 3 to 1 can still hold the ground with proper communication, tactics and strategy. At the same time everything revolves around your personal skill, if you are good, you will score many kills. There are no "epic" items that make you unstoppable, a level 1 can kill level 25 veteran easily.

PS is the only open PvP MMO that I enjoy to PvP in.

edit: I'd compare it more to a massive Battlefield 2142 or a Tribes without jetpacks on an epic scale (Was actually backed by Dave G. in the beginning, the man behind Tribes 2). CS is too vanilla of an FPS to really compare it to PS.

But I say make it RTM free2play

I would say just do ads/RTM but pretty sure they're already doing ads, yet still charge so I doubt they make enough off ads alone.

PS already has adds and they still charge a monthly fee.

I really liked how they did this event a year ago where you could play for free for a long time but your char would be only level 5 max. This way you can still see all the glory that PS has, population was considerably larger AND you had incentive to subscribe to be able to get to top level. But they stoped that :( no more free play, however limited it was.

Agreed. Not sure why they canned that, must not have had a very good trial:new subscription attach rate.

Better funding, advertising, updating of net code, regional servers (like trying to convince the chinese government thats its A.OK to have a server in china...although judging by the 7 total players on Werner it might be too little too late for some regions), even a graphics overhaul would be nice

Even better if some company that has the same vision as the original development team bought the license. (if they had lots of cash to spend)

As for the reserves, yup, reinstate em. Life support is sad to see as being used from one game that does fairly ok and doesn't get content updates because the income is going across the station pass. Anyways, I only hope they get some brilliant idea's for PS, I love the game and always will, but it's sad to see it getting less populated.
