I am not against Age of Conan,  I am against Funcom.  Think about it guys - how different might we be feeling if the game they had hyped to us actually existed?

The simple truth is that the game shown to us in Hyborian Insider and all the other marketing guff just does not exist.  And because it is circling the drain already (oh yes it is) I don't believe that it ever will.

And that is entirely the fault of Funcom who, for reasons I can't comprehend other than money, made a desperate land grab for players before WAR and WOTLK went live.  A tactic that has horribly backfired because not only is the game haemorrhaging players but the whole "Funcom" label has picked up a nasty tarnish that won't easily go away.

I am starting to suspect Age of Conan will go down in gaming history as the most successful con - when else have so many people been duped into buying so much vapour.

LAUNCH was ok.

The GAME itself was not.

Ill explain:You see the same thing over on the SWG forums(lets face it in comparison AoC is head and shoulders above that) you see  people that do 2 or 3 things:

1.They complain about the company that developed the game.

2.Anytime a person comes around saying the game is good and they enjoy playing it iy becomes a flamefest of how wrong it is for them to do so.

3.The word liar gets thrown about a bit.

4.Complain about the game but almost in the same breath would like to see the game built into their vision of the way it was supposed to be.

Now here is where i get suspicious.(especially about SWG AoC has not been given enought time for this to flesh itself out)If the game is sooo bad then why is it still up and running?Keep in mind the ENDLESS estimates of the demise of SWG.

Now im seeing the same thing over here.

Im willing to bet that each and EVERY one of you who endlessly complain about FC and AoC will secretly be playing by the end of January 09.I think by then it will be a completely different game from launch.

But you wont ever admit it will you?Just like the folks over on the SWG forums i suppose..........

Im willing to bet that we wont. I have no idea about SWG, never played it, But nobody is playing AOC anymore. I have canceled my sub but it is active untill sep. 18 (good timing huh?), so i know what state the game is in. for the first month all areas were full of player activity, but as of one hour ago on Doomsayer it is DEAD.  Due to lack of 80 content i have leveled multiple toons to 25 and every time i do it gets more lonely. With my last alt the majority of other players i saw in tortage were lvl 25 twink rangers ganking in Whitesands. At one point i accually had 6 rangers, all lvl 25,  fighting over who got to gank my 13 necro. no one else was there. When i got her to connals vally I quested for 3 hours one day and saw maybe 3 other ppl there the entire time.(durring the afternoon) . On my 80 I only see the same 2 dozen or so ppl ganking in Khesh every day. If everyone is secretly playing this game, where are they?

And before you say it, yes i am still playing. I am payed up to the 18th and i dont like paying for two games at once. So its either AOC or nothing for me untill the 18th, i guess that could be Funcoms new slogan,  AOC, it's better than nothing!!

Yeah well all i know is SWG has been "dead" for 3 years running now.Like i said even if the people who hate SOE (they are an illogical bunch those haters)were playing they wouldnt admit it anyway.

The thing is if people are leaving,and i expect they are,in 6 months time they will come back.If FC implements the missing content and does it the right way(yeah i know before they go bankrupt)with the PvP system or whatever people will come back.

Its typical of mmo design.No developers make a game that hooks you anymore.Every 6 months players quit to try the newest flavor.Every mmo is overhyped and underproduced.

I would imagine WAR is no different.Just look at the hyperactive spokesman they have to represent their game.If the game is SOOO GOOD why do they have this guy trying to convince me so hard that it is?Why not let the game speak for itself at launch?

The genre is flooded with letdowns.Very few exceptions.

Alright, here's the bottom line: AOC is someone taking a dump in a box and selling it for fifty bucks a pop. It had a terrible beta, and a terrible launch. Funcom epic failed.

You can rant and rave about how "good" the game is all you want. Good for you. You enjoy it. Play it and leave us alone. Don't come on the forums trying to yell about how good it is. Everyone's opinion is different. It just so happens the majority's opinion of this game is opposite of yours.

So go play your game. Pour your money into it. Have fun. Leave us out of it.

I could care less what the majority thinks, I don't make decisions based on a majority rule. If you or anyone else has a problem with something I write because it differs from your opinions, get over it.  I'm not going to stop for you or anyone else.

I really wanted AoC to be fun, the combo system seemed cool, until I tried to PvP against moving targets.

And then I fought spellcasters, who don't have to combo, and I then realized that the combo system is utterly horrific for PvP. :(

unless you played through the beta and was there at the start of AoC you just wont understand what some of  us been through with funcon.

No fixes to ANY of the major gameplay and technical issues since Day 1, which was late May.  It's now the beginning of September.  About 3-1/2 months worth of time with nothing taken cared of.  And Failcom adds in even more problems and Nerfs with every patch.

AoC was fabulous on Day 1, when we were still all in Tortage and as a whole, had not seen all the problems stack... and the Rose Colored Glasses finally slipped off.

Then we saw AoC for what it was:  A half-a$$ developed, bug-ridden, woefully incomplete game that seemed to have a lack of direction.

Started playing AoC for its advertised PVP. Quit playing last week...

For those who think salvation is in the PVP and gem nerf patch, login to test and have a go yourself before posting anything positive or negative.

My experience on test suggests that Quake I PVP had tons more depth than AoC PVP does at present. It bloody well played better anyway.

I found AoC to have the most boring feel of any MMO I have played. There was just something missing with it. The best thing it had was good enviroment graphics for the ground and grass.

Characters were very plain, Lineage 2's characters look way better and its 4 years old. The combat system in AoC was very slow and made you micro manage your character to fight. And the quests were just variations of asian mmo grind quests, kill 20 of these, go there and kill him, ect. Combine that with nothing to do at higher levels but grind on villa's or billboard quests.

Aoc is just a stealthed asian MMO's but they are free and f2p and have more fun pvp.

As far as AoC being the best they are;

best at lies

best at terrible patches

best at mediocre game play

best at useless crafting

best at keeping noobs with hope things will get better eventually maybe possibly sometime next year or 2.

L2 is so much better compared to AoC.
