After seeing the video it only confirmed my thoughts of the game being poorly designed and made them a reality.  The gameplay looks wretched, the graphics are lamer, and the game brings nothing new to the table.  I personally don't want to talk about lolfall again this will be my final message in this community.

Seriously this forum has gotten so much better since the video came out.  There is still some nonsense drama, but for the most part the threads have good discussion and newcomers to DF asking questions which the community is giving objective answers to. 

(and before the nit train comes into the station, yea pinkcat isnt being objective, he pretty much copy pastes the exact same thing he said above into every post of his on this forum and offers nothing new, and is basically just trolling)

see the other thread about graphics.  comparing it to eq1 just confirms you as a troll.  we had a good discussion about its graphics in another thread with *gasp* examples and support and when shown comparisons between DF and EQ, even the people who originally stated DF was like EQ admitted that yea it was a pretty false statement and that DF was way better.

Hey we will see you in game, or at least here being bitter when the game releases.

Hah hah, are we finally getting an actual darkfall forum here again?  This is amazing.  We just had two trolls who probably watched the video on youtube, have never looked at screenshots and whose main complaints were about graphics, peace the fuck out.  I'm happy.  Here's to more constructive discussion.

Yup the first couple of days after the video were filled with bitterness from the vapor trolls and they attacked random things.  At this point they have ultimately been proven wrong and have just given up, except for a few who take it personally.

That plus some increased moderation in the forum has given us a much better environment here that has had a lot of good discussion lately.

Think I will leave this forum too, for a while. The believers have been so hurt along the years they are rabid right now

Actually it's true.

A fan is just someone who loves a game and wants to post constructive things about the game and his/her experiences in the game.

A troll is someone who posts negative, unconstructive and inflammatory things purely to get a rise from the fans for his own amusement.

This is all going to plan perfectly.

Huge influx of once hurt and dejected fans who are now triumphant and euphoric reclaiming this forum for their own.

Declarations of final victory and vindication by said fans and long term supporters over the evil “vapor troll haters” before they have even played the game yet.

Impressive display of hubris and ecstatic optimism and expectation released after being pent up over 7+ years of disappointment and frustration.

All because we finally got a video lasting more then a couple of minutes after 7+ years of waiting.

After we waited 3 months for it to be produced.

That was good, but not that good, that unfortunately contained a lot of what we have already been shown in the last video, just more and longer versions of it.

All the while apparently being oblivious to the glaring fact theirs actually only 3 months left to publicly beta test and launch Darkfall , amongst many other things.

And we still know very little to nothing definitive about so very many aspects concerning Darkfall, including even many things that where shown, some only very briefly, in the apparently “comprehensive” video itself.

This is certainly going to be entertaining.

My impression is that many of the vapor troll haters, myself included have simply decided trying to reason with an excited mob under the present circumstances is futile, so they have decided to mingle with the crowd and enjoy the ride.

Unfortunately this is just history repeating itself, as it does with every game that’s hyped pre launch by people who don’t know any better and who have not played the game yet, the result is generally predictable, but it does not make the process any less gratifying to observe.

Or of course this could all just be another non event, its not like there’s not been a precedent for it before, at least several times over the years, but I doubt it this time, I think this really is finally it.

Will you be wanting tomato sauce with those words when DF is released, Polarization? Salt? Pepper?

The actual words that I’m interested in are the ones that have been spoken about what Darkfall will definitely be when its released by the developers and the supporters over the last 7+ years.

And whether or not they will be eating them or if people like myself who have dared to be skeptical about them will be eating theirs

As I have already said that is not a quote it’s an adaptation from a poem by T.S. Eliot.

The world being Darkfall.

So until Beta starts, and its not a whimper but is actually a bang, and its not the end but the beginning of Darlfall, then I will admit my skepticism about what Darkfall would ultimately amount to was unfounded, and that I was wrong, and I will apologize to anyone who cares.

But I will not apologize for being critical and skeptical about a great many number of other things over the years including their community relations, and their constant assurances that beta would be coming “soon”, or the extended and convoluted development period, or the fact that we had to wait over 7 years to get a decent video or the extended news blackouts, or 5 years of vague and ambiguous statements and unsubstantiated claims from Tasos  etc. etc.

Because those things are all facts and most people including the fans agree they have been unfortunate and regrettable.

This whole situation is absurd because you are assuming I am allready definitely already wrong about anything you think I might or might not of said purely based on what a 17 minute video might or might not mean.

You have not played Darkfall.

I have not played Darkfall.

Hardly anyone ever has played Darkfall.

Darkfall is not in public beta yet.

Darkfall has not released yet.

So come back to me with your ketchup only after it has, then you can enjoy your victory laps and bask in the glory of your heroic victory only after all those things have happened.

And only if they fulfill the majority of the promises made by the developers over the last 7 years and they justify the expectations of the majority of the fans, including yourself, who have recently been busily declaring everything they have ever said has been allready been proven to be correct by this video.

Until then, in my opinion, this is just hubris and expectant pre launch hype from a disgruntled and rejected community who have suffered continued humiliation and disappointment for over 7 years who have finally been given something relatively substantial by the developers to get excited about along with yet another timeframe that beta and launch might happen within.

Unfortunately of course, in my opinion, they have got far to excited about it and have preemptively declared the war won when the battle has only just begun.

But like I said this will probably be lost on someone who has already declared “Darkfall wins”, presumably purely because of a 17 min video.
