I had played healers in other MMO's, but it never even entered my mind in Warhammer. Even before playing the open weekend, I could just tell that as much as healers are important they just will not get any respect or personal credit for kills. Being a healer I understand that it's about your party, but it seems to me that most healers don't need to heal because with at- random grouping they will not really be noticed and they don't need to care about their reputation. Also putting the shoe on the other foot, no one has to care about protecting the healer because they don't have to care about their reputation with at- random groups. I've been reading a topic on gamespot forums as many were complaining about healers not doing their job, and because of the above I could see why. During the weekend I played a DPS, and honestly in the heat of battle healers never even crossed my mind. And adding to the fact I did not even know who the healers were.( a suggestion would be to give healers something above their head, telling the side that they are the healers). Am I wrong ? I could be, so what does everyone else think ? |

RvR is the core of Warhammer Online, and good healers are an integral part of a powerful warband. Do you -really- think this could even possibly be a problem? |

If you did not know who the healers were...then the healers were doing a crappy job. Healers get alot of reknown, because remember, renown is calculated by contribution, so every person you heal, buff, etc and gets hit or attacks....you have now contributed.

Not knowing who healers were is caused by your own ignorance. Random grouping or not there will still be a rep for folks, I'll remember who sucks and doesn't, just like every other pvp mmo and I'm sure I won't be the only one. To answer your questions, yes healers get renown and yes you are wrong. |

On Lotro PVPM, healers rank very fast, because... the renom is based in the damage, but anyway the healers are always in groups doing damage, with no downtimes. but the other guys have downtimes. So healers rank faster than other people. On war... the healers will get renom healing people doing damage, so will rank much faster than other people.
Of course, healers in a group. Not healers solloing, and tryiing to play as DPS class. |

I didn't suggest a fix. I implied that nothing is broken. You're paranoid. |

Good healers can easily get the most renown and influence points if they know what they are doing. |

Has anybody actually played a healer in RvR that can answer this. Not really interested in your opinion. I'd like FACTS. |

Originally posted by dsebutchr Yes, healers received renown from RvR. HoTs give small amounts of renown each tic and large heals receive larger amounts of renown. If a healer is doing what they're supposed to be doing they will almost always have top renown lead. It's a Jeep thing. . .

Healers get renown for every heal they do on other people. Renown gets smaller / bigger based on the health of your target and / or he has any other people attacking him. You can gain 1 renown to 5 renown for each heal. I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum. And I'm all out of ass. Because I kicked so much of it earlier. |

I do. Nothing is wrong with the way renown is calculated for a healing class. If you don't have your head up your ass, you gain a lot of renown. This is with the assumption that your team also does not have their heads lodged up their asses. You need to be healing good players to shine as a healer, people that don't know what they are doing die pretty quickly even with heals. My largest complaint, mostly from PW and not beta, is the lack of healer support. People like to yell at you for letting them die but will not help peel attackers off of you. Anyhow, this complaint will change once I am playing with people that I know, and who know how to play. PW was kind of a bust in some respects because nobody wanted to help anyone and that makes some aspects of the game seem bad when they aren't. ------------------ well i'm 35 and have a PhD in science, and then 10 years experience in bioinformatics... you? |

Or they drag a group of mobs over by you while shouting for heals and once you heal the mobs start to attack you and the other guy runs off. It's a Jeep thing. . .

yup....but after we got our guild setup, and got coordinated with our fighting, it became easier and easier, and more efficient..just find yourself a good group of people , guild or friends, and start rvring from the beginning tiers, getting practice and renown for when you really need it at the higher levels

During the Preview Weekend, I played a Warrior Priest. in Tier 1 RvR. I received plenty of Renown even though I died a lot. I healed, buffed and debuffed as much as I could. But, the fact of the matter is, RvR is a very random thing. I found that must players didn't go into RvR with an organized group, so the healer is not of concern to them. This may be because it was a Tier 1 RvR and players were more interested in experiencing fighting against other players. I have to believe that as a player progresses in Tiers they will come to realize that strategy and roles are important to achieving objectives in the game. Just from my beta exprience, I think some players just saw RvR as being just PvP. I loved playing, during closed beta and Preview Weekend, the Warrior Priest and Runepriest. But, after my exprience with RvR, I am wondering whether I should simply roll a DPS class when the game is release. |

I played a RP during the PW. If anything healers are OP in the calculations. The ratio of healing to damage is fine mechanically, but healers just gain too much renown and contribution for heals. I never had a problem dominating contribution and renown in RvR or PQ's. I personally think it needs to be balanced a little bit more or strong healers might be getting the majority of the loot bags leaving non healing classes crying. Successful groups will learn to recognize and protect their healers while recognizing and killing the enemy's healers. Fail groups will fail. |
