There's no technological reason, merely philosophical. Basically, it's the Shadowrun targetting scenario. Console players whine that they can't match a keyboard/mouse combo and PC players will bitch if the consoles get auto-assist.

I have to say it's truly dissapointing that SOE is not even trying to find a solution for this.

It's quite sad that many players won't be able to play cross platform with their friends simply because SOE decided that the whiners are top priority. Why not just have both shared servers and exclusive servers?
