VideoGamer.com: Fans say a StarCraft MMO would be great, but they don't see your side of things do they?

FP: The World of Warcraft team is 135 people. The StarCraft 2 team is 40 people.

Have you ever taken a look at the feature set of Darkfall??  It's much greater than what WoW is.. and yet somehow Aventurine is going to out do with 20-30 amateurs what it takes 135 professionals to accomplish backed by one of the biggest dev studios in the world. lol

c'mon now

That might be the problem with Darkfall.  How long has this piece of vaporware been in production?  Most of a decade??  This game will either never come out, or already be obsolete and irrelevant when it does.  Really, it only takes a handful of dudes to efficiently "develop" a game that is never coming out anyway.

So first people claim it takes to long time! Then people complain it is to few developers!

What the ¤#"&?? They just said the answer themselves.

And Aventurine must be over 70 people right now.

I'am sorry but DAOC was no where even remotely close to what WoW is in terms of features and content.

So if you're saying you will get a weak DAOC clone from Darkfall than yes I suppose that's possible.

I know what you said and i pointed out what was produced with that amount of people. And if DAOC launched today how it was back than it would not have survived long.

Whow! whow!

I dont like to slander other MMOs. But WoW does not have much either of features or content. Not even Blizzard denays that. Its one of their selling arguments.

The BOTS /AI is just helping with certian things and stressing the server. (ive seen this done)

they can walk around and fine area you fallt hrow and other things like that.

Cant believe you blow that out of context too

I don't have a clue how many people they have, but I ask one question.

Are you guys making this up as you go along?

Where the heck do you get they have 70+ people working? And you pass it off as fact?

Like I said, I have no idea how many people or volunteers they have but I have ONE question?

Most likely they have volunteers from a local college testing the game, if there's a working game to test. Let's for argument purposes say there is.

In this day of the Internet, you can't keep a secret for 15 seconds. News spreads instantly and no one keeps anything to themselves.

So. my question is this.

Why has NO ONE posted or written about their testing of Darkfall anywhere on the Internet? I've been wondering that. It's curious to say the least.

I mean, college kids testing and keeping everything strictly to themselves. Not common in this day and age.

Anyway, a 70 person staff is ridiculous. Some major game developers don't even have that many people. They are probably closer to 5 or 10 FULL time people than 70. My PURE off the top of my head guess is. They have 4-5 co-owners working and another 10-15 kids testing.

VideoGamer.com: With WoW doing so well, it proves that it's a great idea.

FP: It would be a lot of work! [laughs]. But the thing you have to remember about the MMO genre, especially now that the bar is set by games like World of Warcraft, WoW has been in development since, in some shape or form, 1999. There's people on the WoW team that have been on that team for nine years. So there's nine years of technology and story and content that are created, so the bar for entry into the MMO genre, whether it's Blizzard or someone else, is very high as a result. So you're dealing with a market where games have nine years invested in them. And so to look at StarCraft and say well we could make an MMO out of that. Well yeah, but how many years would we have to invest in it to create the quantity of content and the quality of experience that would be required to meet just the minimum standard that's set by the games that are out there right now?

Lets hope that Darkfall launches with 9 years worth of content so it can compete.

5 years. Development for 5 years.  And, as backed up by research and Dark Age of Camelot as a shining example, 30-40 devs is the ideal number for a development studio. WoW has how many? And what have they done? Almost nothing, almost no change to the original game.

Dark Age of Camelot had one of the best engines, with so many little things (and big things) that games TODAY don't even have. I took DAoC for granted when I played it, and now with most MMOs today, there are so many features severaly lacking that I assumed was in every other MMO. They did so much more with DAoC than most MMO companies do with much larger teams.

Now try and tell me that Darkfall cannot possibly do what its promising. Its not doing too much new. Most of the things it has existed as features in 1998, just no one has done it again since then.

It's the code that counts... Just look what EvE did and what their core team consisted of and then come back to these forumn, with a better troll attempt.
