Okay this is just to let anyone in the EU know about the recent confusion regarding Pre-orders using either EA store or Direct2Drive.co.uk

As you all know, GOA have announced on the forums that SE preorders Did NOT give you open beta access, yet these 2 websites clearly say different.

Now this post is very contradicting of earlier posts of GOA where they stated that NO preorder was available in the EU regarding SE editions.

Open Beta and the standard pre-order program I just wanted to clear up a few points of confusion about the open beta program in Europe. When the US pre-order program was announced, it was mentioned that the EU program would not include Open Beta access. At that point we hadn't officially unveiled our program, but as we were getting a lot of enquiries about this, we confirmed that this was the case. Since then, some of you have seen the EA Store in Europe and Direct2Drive advertising the pre-order with Open Beta access. It's important to note that our official announcement regarding the Standard Edition pre-order is coming on Thursday 28th which is when the program launches. At that time we will provide you with all the details of the pre-order package as well as a list of partners. Some of our partners have preempted that announcement which has led to a bit of confusion. The situation then is basically as follows: Pre-ordering a standard edition from most of our partners will not automatically give you Open Beta access as we have said previously. We will however be announcing a list of 'preferred partners' who will be selling the pre-order with Open Beta access. A full list of these partners will be included with the main announcement this week, I can confirm that both the EA Store and D2D are preferred partners and so those of you who have already placed an order need not worry that you won't get what you were offered. This does not seems to be there mistake, but EA and D2D advertising something witch was not yet officialy annouched. Infact I do believe they are handeling this pretty good by informing us that these two are prefferd partners ahead of there official annouchment.

no, GOA have explicitly said elsewhere that SE preorders will not get OB access, but that they were going to give some keys to community sites, this announcement contradicts that.

im happy for the news, but quite horribly confused.

To me it seems GOA are going out of there way to sort out this mess so that no player will be dissapointed,for that at least they deserve a pat on the back.

it has been CONFIRMED by IAINC that, and i quote

Nice, thank you Jessian. Guess that EA and D2D have gone behind the back on GOA regarding this issue and probably never bothered to communicate it to them.

Anyways, did you notice that the EA page now states: Pre-Release Beta Access: 06/09/08

Wonder how long that will take to sort out

Sounds to me like EA Mythic are the ones not being straight with GOA and so GOA having to deal with their mess and looking bad in the process. If I was GOA I'd ditch EA Mythic altogether, not doing their rep any good.

Translation: we dont care a damn about Europeens, they are stupid, therefore we leave support to a bunch of amateurs called GOA. Thanks for nothing.

Well Mythic Entertainment is kinda a big costumer for GOA (They also run DAoC for Mythic) so I doubt they would just drop them and infact I assume they have a contract at this point preventing them from doing so.

 Guys, keep bumping this, cause i know most of the EU player base, dont visit that website.

I'm European, so I'm used to the correct way of showing dates dd/mm/yy

But it is what daylight01 said: OB starts on September 7th according to all sources, yet the EA UK website states September 6th. So I think it is quite fair to say that EA is really messing things up...

Hi guys, i was wondering if someone who has ordered via Direct 2 drive (the UK version of WAR) could help me out?

Today, i purchased WAR via D2D, and when i go to my account, it says as such. However, I have received no beta key, no retail code, nothing. At the moment, it just seems like i've paid for my account to say 'pre ordered' on the D2D site.

I'm assuming the keys etc. will be given out later?

What should i be getting for having purchased the pre order ?

 I think all companies will wait until the 28th before handing out the keys and letting us download. 

You dont get anything until thursday when they will confirm what you will get. You will not get anything on thursdays necessarily - they will confirm if there is an OB and send you a key before the OB begins.

We (I did too) pre-ordered before anything was confirmed, its not like D2D is going to go out of stock so just sit tight and enjoy whatever comes our way.
