The GCD did snag me a few times in War, but that's because I wasn't used to the playstyle.
Once I got a feel for the game, and understood how it worked -- I enjoyed it very much. Particularly, how the Sword Master operated, and doing certain moves to chain up to better ones. However, you could go down different chains, depending on the situation. To me, that forces the player to decide between different tactics. If I chose a certain move, sometimes it shut down the ability to do others (by design), so it forced me to figure out what to do and when. There did sometimes seem to be some slight lag between abilities and the manifest, but it sounds like they're aware of it. Just needs some "tightening" up is all. Whereas, in AoC, it was like you'd fire off a move and go to the next, and it wouldn't even registered -- then you'd have to start over, plus deal with the cooldowns. Very frustrating. This occurred once or twice in War, but I think it had more to do with my confusion over mob pathing. And that sounds like it's also going to be quickly addressed. |

What he said. You get a bitchload of exp every time you win a game. You cant "twink" in WAR because the character will only last for like 5 wins before he out levels the scenario. |

Atleast they've admitted the issues but they need to be fixed before launch. |

this is food for thought. I posted this in beta forums also in case they make the /xp off option like they did in daoc. |

While I do agree this game holds a certain resemblence with DAoC and many other MMO's, just becuase it was there, doesn't mean it will be here.

I felt really ownage when I became Rank 10 RN 6 with tier 2 gear owning the tier 1 battlegrounds. It's was like I was the monster on relic on superdrive because not one single player could've killed me or 4-6+. I felt unstoppable raping my enemies 1by1. |

That's freakin' amazing. MJ listed all the issues I had with the game this past weekend. Good job! I already enjoyed most of what I played, so fising this stuff will certainly make the launch experience a whole lot better. Too bad other devs don't come out like this *cough* * Funcom* *cough!* I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play. |

Mythic is doing a great job.

I think we learned two things in this thread. Mythic has a very good idea of how to prioritize fixes and is really trying to understand the concerns of the community and memoir is a complete troll who probably hasn't even tried the game. |

This is hilarious coming out of the #1 fanboy for AOC considering how terrible Funcom is as a development company and how completely out of touch they are with the community. I mean seriously you don't believe this crap do you Protus? You have defended to the death one of the worst companies in MMO history and you are going to try to call out one of the best? Yeah right. |

this game is not near what AOC is, stop comparing. and all the closed beta people have verified that the pathing was broken in the preview weekend build, and worked fine previously. these things can be fixed, Conan has more than just bugs, the overall design of the game is just horrible and poorly executed, you cant fix that unless you revamp the whole game. |

I played AoC in beta, and now have played WAR in beta. My feeling coming out of this was that WAR is more polished three weeks before launch than AoC is three months after launch. I had one crash all weekend, which was ironically as I was about to shut things down anyway. Yes, there were bugs and irritations, but every single item from my list just happens to be in this writeup by Mythic. It's very clear to me that Mythic is communicating honestly, which is something Funcom still hasn't done. And for the record, when did AoC's NDA get lifted? Oh, that's right: never! WAR's got lifted a month before launch. Which company has something to hide? And which company TRULY feels that their game is about ready for prime time? I think the answer is obvious. I'm not sold on WAR. Mostly because of how badly I was let down by AoC. But I liked what I played this weekend, I like where the devs seem to be going, and I have far more hope at this point than I did at the same point in time for AoC. ![]() ![]() |

I think he's just trying to keep the "AoC fanboy" ruse up to confuse people, or because he's already got that kinda rep around here. |

I am no fanboy of anygame I just believe that Funcom and AOC is the best thing out right now. Maybe in 6-12 months War may prove to be close but you really cant come close to where AOC is at right now. Blizzard even admitted they lost 60% of their sub base to AOC so that means only 40% returned to WOW. AOC has proven time and time again that it is the best and will continue its dominance for a long time to come |

Well if you are serious that is fine, if you think you got a great game with AoC, enjoy, nothing wrong with that. Don't expect too many people to agree with you though. |

The Protus-AoC in MMORPG.com is not the same guy in AoC forums. This one here is an imitation :) The other one is also an extra-hyped fanboi but that's another story. ----------------------------- Ted Treffon: I don't represent Hardbodies. Ted Treffon: No, I don't represent that either. |
