We will know once eve confirms it, and yes, "pvp in spaaaaace" could have a huge selling point. Especially if it looked like battle of proxycon in 3dmark05/06. Even if you can't jump or dance, there are still an infinite number of retarded things people can do...and don't forget the internet f*wad theory: what can be done stupid, will be done.

Course if you have been following the dev interviews etc on this subject you will know why this will be a good addition despite the lack of PvP. Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981 |

I personally think a game with Eve's ship combat gameplay as well as an FPS inside of it would be the absolute coolest thing ever, literally nothing would compare to how awesome that would be. Nothing at all ever.
Unfortunately, I believe the majority of people that play Eve are not former FPS players like myself and others on this forum, and as such, putting an FPS feature into the game that would require you to use it or give extra benefits to those who use it over those that don't, wouldn't work and would lose a lot of players that aren't into FPSs.
Though I could see it working as a meaningless way to pass the time while training a skill or something, it would be much much easier to just design a mini-game, which is probably part of the reason they're designing walking in stations in the first place. Just a place where you can walk around and socialize, and take a break from ship stuff while you wait for a skill to train or something, maybe even have a beer while your character is having one, lol. |

Also you can open up shops and sell goods or services therefore getting an income via Walking in stations. i wont go into any more detail as its been stated elswhere where anyone can go and look it up. This may have been "said before".
Couldn't something like a "transformers" setup be adapted to EvE? You'd retain your pod/clone, but it would be moved into a "transformer" which would then be launched to the moon/large asteroid/rocky planet you wanted to scout. You could have offensive, defensive, mining, and engineering "transformers" with the same basic weapon types as ships (missiles, projectiles, lasers, etc.) You could also have mines and other types of perimeter defenses for mining operations. Long dead civilizations/technologies could be discovered . . . I wonder if it would actually add something new to EvE though, in that you'd just be transporting elements of the game to surfaces. You could even have gravity effect the gameplay (large asteroid vs moon vs planet) . . .

Btw, I absolutely hate the idea of being able to gain weight in game. I don't know about every one else but that's just too stupid and it punishes those that would rather not use this feature that often or just don't have time to. Not that that will be me, I'm just saying it will be absolutely ridiculous and above all should not be put into the game. |
