Because I some EQ fanatic posted here - who has played her game for more then a year , yes longer then 365 days , It was 381 days in the past 9 years was trying to slam me for existence. Players in glass houses should not throw stones. I play My SOE game my way and She can play hers . I thinking about making this an item in next weeks Rodo report.

So don't play it. From the looks of many of my old friends returning as I did recently for free vet month, I see it making a small but stable comback. It really supprised me how much it has improved since the disaster of the original NGE. The game is fun again. It's not pre cu, but does have many elements brought back (like creature handler, buffs, crafting being important, variations to professions). Gorath has a great friendly community and in no way seems "dumbed down" people as has been suggested. The fact people suggest only dumb people play SWG is a pretty childish thing to say and belongs more in the WoW community. Before you say o this is his first post he must be a NGE fanboi in disguise. My long standing account was banned for speaking of that pre cu thing we are not alloud to talk about. I truely was shocked I had fun in free vet month, also shocked I decided to resub, but SWG has really come along way from initial NGE. |

Oh I am in no tither but I am highly amazed that someone who has their altered existence for over a year in EQ1 and 2 would have the balls ( /wink Muahahaha) to call me out . Now don't get me wrong , iF one can play a game for that lenght of time and feel good about themselves , I say go for it . But you are correct my skin is super thick ( like some of my other parts , Muhahahaha) but I should be allowed to pick up a stone that just hit me and throw it back.

I was truly shocked when I went back for my free month too. I was absolutely astounded by the utter desolation I found. After searching EVERY single major city and out post at around prime time, I found 5, yes 5, people online, and 4 of them were afk. Yes, only 1 person was actually at the keyboard. This was on my only server ever played on, Kauri, which I have heard is the worst pop server, but it doesn't really matter to me. We had a nice population before the NGE completely and utter destroyed anything that game was. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

And you think 300 and something days in 9 years is much? well i have 411 real days played in WoW, that is like... 3.5 years old?. And no, I do work, I do sleep . I just have a great job that pays well and where I can play like SoE vs the masses. It is called politician. One doesnt work much, gets well paid, makes his own schedule, and even tells people the ship is going left when we are turning right. |

I can verify these findings as I also took a few days to check the game out again.. former Kauri players. Three servers with a decent population out of the lot of what like 20 something is nothing special imo. If you are luck enough to have characters on one of the populated servers, then all it does is allow you to spin the truth of what the status is of all the others. 5 year old games do not make comebacks. Look.. with dated gameplay mechanics, a game engine that isn't close to harnessing the power of current computer rigs, crappy itemization for a content based game, collection quests as content, and a very generic UI... there are no comebacks. The Star Wars IP is the only thing that has kept the game alive, and nobody would play it otherwise. |

So I'm am a SWG vet, one that returned a year or so ago and stayed. I have been reading these forums for about a year. These anti SWG threads pop up several times a week if not more often. Guy do you realize your still bitter and pissed towards the untimely death of a video game. There is no way in hell someone could still be this up set over the game. I know the whole "But I had friends there!" wine and it is wining BTW. I had and have friends there as well and were still all in touch with each other with the exception of a couple. We don't really need SWG to maintain contact with each other, never did. AL of us the one's that stay and the ones that left are over it. I mean I have an X who left me for a buddy, because I wouldn't do meth, that hurt but I still got over it in about 6 month. People get over family members dying, losing there jobs, and other shit that is way more important than this damn game quicker than all of you are. Also if any of the flamer I know are coming at this post hit it with but it was the funnest period of my life, you don't have one so you can't say that! Personally I just play it no for something to do with a few of my friends my toon is a hobby that all. I do miss the PRE NGE Post CU day but there done and there is NEVER GOING TO BE ANTHER PRE NGE OR PRE CU SWG because there isn't a big enough market for a sandbox game like that to ever make it worth a companies time to make. WoW had enticed a lot of these companies to go that direction and when it's done so are the Hay days of MMOs, WoW is a fad filled with none gamers that will return to there real lives and never play anther MMO, there will be no real coustmer base so no one is going to gamble the money on a game like what SWG was. So in closing, get over it, go out side and find something a little more meaning full to fill you freaking empty lives something other than a video game. Blistermix of Bria

Nah , first line politician is something unwealthy and unhealthy. And dependant of elections. Every one has his eye on you, press all over... kind of a mess. Lurking in the shadow, like being in a european comission, is where the goods are. Tho i did shake bush's hand (and washed my own as fast as possible). |

Second life is nothing but sandbox, and has had millions of players. EVE Online is a sandbox, and has over 250K players and is continuously growing. Succcess has little to do with sandbox/no sandbox, and much more to do with a varied experience in a quality product. Game makers would do well to ignore your analysis. WoW is a success because it is a clean, well made game, and is the closest thing to a sandbox with toys on the market. The first game to truly deliver a good, working, unbuggy sandbox with toys will be the WoWkiller. WoW doesn't succeed because it isn't a sandbox, but because it manages to have so much content that it appears to BE a sandbox to the people who play it. Every game designer who has copied WoW has copied the wrong things, and thus, they have failed. A sandbox without toys is a desert. Toys without a sandbox is just a game. The game that successfully integrates both, and does it better than WoW, will beat WoW. |
