It's not a "who will win" thread but just a interesting thing i noticed... just went over the new charts from warhammeralliance and seems like order vs destr. ratio has gone from 2:3 towards 9:11... a little improvement... that's good... and the ratios of the archtypes is almost the same too... except for one interesting detail... destr. hates the magus for some reason... so there's more ranged players in order... but the shaman vs archmage ratio is WAY over the roof...65ish for the archmage, 135ish for the shaman... so the same mechanics, very similar spells from what i hear but somehow they like the shaman twice as much...

I haven't played either one of them... for some reason the only healers i tested are DoK and RP... and they are fun... i bet their oposites are too from what i hear... but why oh why do people like shamans and not archmages? anyone tried them and can comment on this? tyvm ^^

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but of the 7 classes I've tried, I was so disgusted with archmage's damage at level 1 that I immediately quit and started a new class.

I don't think I've ever quit a class at level 1 in any game until now =P

Yes, I'm sure it gets better... maybe even 3 minutes later when I hit level 2, but oh man I just don't have enough time to waste on instantly boring classes when I'm having so much fun with every other class.

I have to agree that the arch mage starts with its crappiest dps spell. I played an Arch mage up to 21 and templates of 31 and 40. In all these templates and playing I never used the level 1 nuke. After level 4 I could have easily removed it from my bar.  At level 40 you have 4 different dots to stack and between that and healing you dont have time for long casting nukes.

There are no perfect men in this world, only perfect intentions.

I have tried the Shadow Warrior, Shaman, Bright Wizard, and Archmage and the most fun out of all of these has been the Shadow Warrior for me. None of these characters are above level 10 but I don't understand why so many people prefer the Shaman. They seem so weak to me.

Butt Kicking for Goodness!

I'm probably going with Archmage at launch...  That being said, I hate their level 1 nuke.  It takes a long time to cast and the damage isn't worth it.  Once I got my channelling spell and about 3 dots, I began to use only those for my damage output.

Edit:  As for the ratio thing, I think it's because more people prefer Destruction to Order...  That's my two copper, anyways.

How can  you possibly judge how 'weak' a class is at level 10?

Have you played an MMO before?

no... he can't of course... but he can say if it's fun or not...

that's after all why the removed 4 classes from the game... people were playing them till lvl 10ish and then got bored and rolled something else... it's the same with the magus... i got him to lvl 7 and it was just too boring for me... since 90% of the time i was just spamming the same spell over and over... in pve that is... i think i didnt try to pvp with him... as to compared with the other classes i have tried... they played just fine... till level 10 you usualy know if you want to play a class or not... yea ofc it's different then a lvl 40... but it's the same with everything in life... if it doesn't hook you at the beginning you'll rarely try it till the end...
