Already we see that the game is not quite as good as the hype thats already been thrown out. I would back off the beta thing and start posting about how to fix the flaws it does have now instead of trying to defend it through release your community will be better off in the long run. |

Honestly, what do you think the beta is for then? Its only a valid excuse for the graphics, not the bugs. Yet, at the same time that is what the beta is for, flushing out said bugs, testing what they release, and generally making sure that its as polished as possible before release. |

Not enough time to really fix anything major or add very much.
Basically the REAL beta is over. |

I hope you are right, but it seems unlikely that in one month they will release a whole new set of high res textures, fix the silly pathing, improve the old school funny looking distance animations, add anti-aliasing etc etc.........but if they do then great! i wish the best for warhammer online and Mythic
When I first realized this when I was playing this weekend I found it really hilarious. Yes, hopefully they fix that. It's quite pathetic to be honest.

If you've ever played Medieval II: Total War, you'd know that higher quality animations (every footstep hitting the grass and the arm pumping as the enemy soldiers rout from you) reduce framerates by ALOT. That's why if you put the Unit Quality down to maybe Medium and you zoom out, you see the "old school funny looking distance animations." And you know what? That's when the game is fastest. Keep in mind that all the Total War games focus on huge battles with hundreds of units. Sound similar? |

Not really, if you want to be technical, it isnt a couple of weeks, its a little less than a month. To say they dont have time to fix anything major isnt quite true, do you know how many people they have working on the game? They've admitted that there are some issues in the Beta, but they are working on them, what more do you want. Would another release mirroring the "success" of AoC make you happy, would you like that? They are being as open as possible about what they are doing, which they have proved continiously. Not a rare argument, but name one game that had a completely solid release? WoW had a great deal of issues at release, any game has, the beta is just to get a compilation of issues, work as many out as possible before release, then after release, finish on those and any other issues that appear. If you dont want a buggy game, wait a few months before playing. |

I understand you... but give it more time... It's like if someone judge DAoC just after playing the first 24 levels and thid and nothing else. Give it more time. Play the beta more than half an hour. You may end up still disliking it or you may find some other stuff that you like. Who knows? |

I forced AA on and love it. I also tried what people said about trying types of characters you normally wouldn't play. Well I don't normally enjoy playing a tank. In War, Tanks turn out to be amazingly fun! I tried an Elven Swordmaster and I find myself being in the top five every public quest. I main tank the boss fights simply because it's very fun to tank when your taunt makes the mob take 30% more damage and you start using tactical abilities, it's just a blast really. They really made a great experience with the combat and how each ability is dependant on another ability you posses to work properly. I love the feel of it all. I also finally started seeing 10th level characters with such great and intrigueing armor looks that I cant wait till I hit 10th. I made it to 8th so far today and I've been pvping and questing and winning public quest massive loot bags with purple items in them. The world is constantly getting bigger as you go further from your initial starting point. Also it feels like the first book in The Wheel of Time series because we don't reach the big main city for quite awhile, it's like this big adventure and people are all around dreaming about what the huge cities are like and hoping they get to see it all someday, listening to tales and rumors of what is out in the world. I love this game and each day has been better than the last thus far. I will certainly be subscribing. ------------------------------ 'Cry Havoc, and Let Loose the Dogs of WARRRRR!!!' |

You obviously haven't been in beta nor see how fast the WAR team works and revamps things. Maybe you are used to Blizzard who take 6 months for a bug fix but Mythic gets things done ASAP. Pathing was working fine until a recent patch so that will most likely be fixed soon. Don't underestimate Mythic. If they have to they will release a fix patch right before headstart if they think it will increase player satisfaction. Heck they released a patch mid-preview weekend but obviously WEEKs is to short of a time to fix things! BTW this is a MMO. They can release patches after release....obviously no one remembers the perma-loot bug in WoW. But you are a troll and don't see reason. Good day! |

I wouldnt quite call him a troll. Trolls are generally just annoying and rather unintelligent. Though its true about blizzard, ive ran into a few bugs, and an exploit, both of which existed since TBC was released, and are still there. There is only bug that ive encountered that was fixxed, and it was a monster in SMV that was nearly always bugged out in a lava pit, and was needed for a quest. |

I don't even see what half these complaints are about. There are no major bugs in the game at all, everything is so nit picky and is easily fixable.
This game is hardcore PVP, without a doubt. I spent all day yesterday getting to 15 via scenarios and PVE. Today I spent most of my day trying to prevent our keep from being sieged in the Troll Country. It was amazing. Granted I didn't get any "big" rewards, exp was decent, RR exp was good, but the sense of achievement was there. Do you know how good it feels to completely own someone on the battlefield? PVP worth is more than just items and getting something for your character, this game will bring more people together than any other game besides DAoC. When the game launches, everybody will play. WIthin 3-6 months some will leave, some will stay. Those that stay aren't in it to advance their characters or get sick loot, they are there for a purpose to pvp.
The game is extremely well done, period. For most of the people that complain they obviously don't know what PVP is about. The PVE in WAR sucks, to put it straight forward for most of you. PQ are a good idea but still don't capture what the game is about. There are no places to farm loot and money. The main point is to PVP and have your side win. When they release the last two tiers of the game, you will be amazed at how sick the game really is. |

And, in the event you're going to say "it's not even fun", I will pre-empt it by saying.. Your idea of what's fun isn't the same as everyone else. How about sharing your own personal opinions, based on your own personal thoughts/hopes, and let other people make up their own minds?

I have to agree with the OP on this one, I think people should be wary not to expect too much. If you come in with average expectations you will be satisfied. This is not a bash on the game I applaud Mythic for what they have done. I'm not sure how I can say the following without sounding like a troll and this is purely personal opinion but the game is like a rough version of WoW :S thats just the impression I always get from my experience so far in CB. Its not major if it just recently happened with a recent patch. But I do know what you're talking about. It is extremely frustrating to PVE with my pet, but it isn't a major bug. If it was correct in the past it can be easily fixed. |

This is like playing WoW with a couple classes to level 10 then saying the combat and game aren't anything special. Seriously all MMO's are basic when you first start. I think there should be a way to lock anyones review unless they leveled one character to atleast 20 or seen half of the game. These "i leveled to 10 with two avatars" reviews are starting to become stupid. Thank god i already decided I was buying this game, these premature reviews will sway a decent amount of players away from this game. PLaying: EvE, Ryzom Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum |
