AoC is about to hit another iceberg, the Warhammer Iceberg LOL. The Preview weekend is awesome and the game is more polished on the closed beta client we are runnning that Conan is currently. Didnt have a single client crash during 14 hours of play which is very refreshing after all the bugs in AoC and no lag spikes. This is going to force Funcom to get their act together or else from what we have seen this weekend with Mythic. I can't wait for the oben beta but I still have 2 days on the preview so long Conan. Let the fanboi flames begin I'm loggin into Warhammer ( a real game). |

The future of AoC is to be a smallish niche game with a loyal base of fans. I believe there will eventually be server merges and some serious changes to the direction the game is going (any direction at all?). They will do what they have to to remain viable, but it will never become a AAA title like it should have been with a competent company behind it. WAR, on the other hand will become very large, will be adding servers if anything. The game is just managed far far better than FC could ever hope to achieve. WAR itself, IMO so far is already so much better than AoC after 3-4 months live is. However, the real difference is Mythic are communicative and actually appear to give a damn about their customers and their own reputation. WAR will have problems for absolute sure, the difference again, will be that it looks like Mythic will address them, hell, even tell the players what's going on! Once WAR is live, we'll see. My bet is that the FC devs will be sadly looking at WAR though and thinking "That could have been our huge success." |

AoC will have no future. The game is already dead, and why play AoC when you can play WAR? |

BS. I think AoC is a terrible game developed and managed by a completely inept company, but the game is not dead. It's not going to die, and saying so is just a bitter drive-by. You want the game to die, you hate FC and wish they pay, but sorry, the game will survive. They still have to release in Russia, China, etc I believe, even though I doubt foreign gamers are any more accepting of crap than we are. It will still garner subs though, because as we see, there is a percentage of people in NA that think this is a good game, surely there will be in the foreign markets as well. |

there is always the spawn ganking crowd, they love it. And saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade that, with it, thou mayest blow thine enemies to tiny bits....in thy mercy." |

As much as AoC has problems now, i still see much more potential with AoC then with War...War seems to be a one track focus game...pvp..thats it... |

Hey, I like playing AoC but hate the lack of content and a lot of the glitches. I hope WAR does well and that it does force Funcom into acting instead of talking about it. Good post...can't see why anyone would be offended..enjoy WAR. |

Please tell me your not trying to use the PAID BETA excuse. Did you forget your playing an MMO. Let's restate this for people new to MMO's. All mmo's will never be finished. (Forget the fact that an MMORPG is an ever changing world.) This is the very reason they spit the word polish at you. Because polish is them trying to make the game as playable as possible before they go live, and continue to work on their product. Now how they react after the game goes live is what you should be worried about. As a famouse person once said, "Communication is the key! " . |

And in AoC's case, they failed spectacularly. It takes a special kind of incompetent to deliver a product on par with launhc Vanguard and SWG's NGE when you have the benefit of hindsight. AoC is giving PoTBS a run for "worst launch of 2008". They've already taken the gold, silver, and bronze for "worst customer service" and "worst patches". |

I dont think AoC will die, too many subs still and that movie + Xbox version will give it longivity. Which is nice for a Conan fan like me. Means there might be a ok game to play in a couple of years when I will try it again. "You are the hero our legends have foretold will save our tribe, therefore please go kill 10 pigs." |

The famous person that said that was me. :D Anyways, I dont really play MMO that much more. It is too time consuming hobby imo. There are so many things in this world that I value more. Like friends, family, passion to help give something to the needing people. |

While it is true that no MMO is ever truly finished, to suggest that there is therefore no "standard" of quality for an MMO to be released is disingenuous to say the least. Though never finished, it is entirely possible for an MMO to be released in a state that is so substandard that it is in what most rational people would consider a beta level. MMOs can release with high quality, low quality, and everything in between. Insinuating that they all release at the same level of quality, simply by virtue of the fact that they are MMOs, is pure nonsense. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |

You still think there is going to be an Xbox 360 version of AoC? Go to your local Gamestop or EBGames and pre order it.
Age of Conan will survive, but it will never be a huge success. Funcom had it in their pocket and pissed it away without any remorse what so ever. To those that stick with AoC: I wish you the best of luck, and hope that you can find whatever it is you're looking for there. |
