There's a video coming out, most probably next week, or shortly after. We’re talking about a long 100% in-game pure gameplay trailer with no scripting, no simulation, no post-processing.
Yay!! After only 3 months, we've managed to get from "a few weeks" to "most probably next week, or shortly after" (i.e. "maybe next week, maybe not"). Good to see they've admitted the other videos were not pure in-game video, and had scripting, simulation, and/or post-processing. Otherwise, a completely empty update, except "we're upgrading our webservers". |

I have Darkfall now! |

Nice! Then we will see what happens in ten days or something? Hopefully it will be good news for us that want to play Darkfall. And for everyone else, they can go back to "insert game here" and finally give it a rest here. |

Just words... But good for them expanding, nothing to us the community tho. It better be a good video next week or the week after that. |

Saying they were delays that aren't delaying anything, is the same as saying nothing. I did miss the part about more people joining, but again, empty information... what do I care if they hire a new janitor or one or two new gofers? IMHO, just fluff. |

this video will turn 50,000 people away from darkfall or brings the fan base to a million. |

of course, when the video does roll around you can be 100% that there will still be mmorpg morons that claim *that* video was created in 3ds max or something equally ridiculous.
it's obvious that none of their videos are post-processed or they would look better, eg: AoC videos. |

well, it is just Tasos yammering on as usual but this sounds promising - at least as far as the video anyway more waiting but just possibly some light at the end of a very long tunnel

Then you have my condolences on an update that is not only all but completely void of substantive information, but lacking on useless details as well. Either way, only been told the video will release sooner, or perhaps later (nothing new there!), they've hired someone for something, there were some undisclosed delays (someone needed to take an unexpected toilet break?), and we won't hear back from him until the video is released. |

it only sounds like yammering because most of the readers here have never worked in software development before. they just naively assume the game just magically springs into being and features just write themselves.
software development is SLOW. the design-code-test cycle takes TIME even with a large development team, and most of the time, there's nothing new to report.
be thankful these guys are ballsy enough that they even provide biweekly updates of development progress -- 99% of software companies don't. |

So one would assume that coming up with 10 minutes of Fraps while the developers walk through their beloved game and play it shouldn't be too hard, now should it? |

Source? He states they don't "'enhance' any [screenshots]," and states some are "gameplay footage". No where do I see where they've denied using any post-processing, or any scripting, in any of their videos. In five sentences extolling the virtues and purity of this video, he never even implies the others were not pure. In past statements, I see he has implied there was no scripting, but does not state it (unlike in this "update"). 2/22/08: For today's update we put together a medley of location test videos taken from and around clan cities and racial outposts. .... We improved the video quality since uploading the original. 7/19/07: I was going to add a couple of screenshots, but Henning took the time to put together a short video featuring the Mirdain mount, the Aerdin Cat, which you can view here: 2/9/07: The video was made from internal testing gameplay footage we took using Fraps. Ricki and Henning spent the most time on it, which wasn't more than a few hours. Panayiotis, our sound engineer, wrote the music. The test builds we use are optimized for testing and not all elements of the game are enabled in them. The footage consists of highlights from developers testing on older test builds. Darkfall is in a more advanced state at the moment. The graphics for the video footage are set to "default" which means that you're not seeing dynamic shadows, among other things. 1/30/07: We made a new video, you can get it here: 6/15/06: Unfortunately, there was speculation on this screenshot being "enhanced". We’ve told you many times that we don’t do that but since that's not enough for some people, here's some in-game footage. 2/27/06: We're releasing the first Darkfall gameplay video today. We pieced it together from in-game footage taken during internal testing. 8/19/05: It's a recent video from the alpha client. This is an amateur video, not an official release. |

Originally posted by javac Yes, everyone here is "yammering" because we want a software development job. I believe the posts thus far are centering around the video, or the lack of real information... I am unsure how software development experience or "design-code-test cycle" experience (especially since they are supposedly finished with the "design-code" portion of the "design-code-test cycle") applies. Also, please buy a dictionary, or use an oline one... bi·week·ly adjective, noun, plural -lies, adverb Source on 99% of software companies don't provide bi-weekly updates? While you are at it, for a point of reference, find the percentage of software companies that actually release software. And how many of those are successful (i.e. at least "break even"). Also, since many if not most "software" don't make games, let alone MMORPG's, please find a stastistic on how many game software companies provide biweekly updates. Subscription-based MMORPG software companies would be ideal. |

This update kind of sucked. I mean, we were all waiting for the video and he's basically telling us what the video will be like and that it might not even be next friday. |

"There's a video coming out, most probably next week, or shortly after." I'm sorry, but to anyone with a bit of common sense, this is virtually a guarantee that you will NOT be seeing the video in August. |
