Two things I have noticed in Closed Beta that Mythic has done well..... (1) They have discouraged Power Leveling. I have not seen anyone talk about this yet. Sure, you can power level all you want, but there are some downsides. If you rush through PL-ing, you will miss many Tome unlocks....tactics...etc. that come thorough exploration, quest and PQs. For example, since gear is only a SMALL part of your RvR uber-ness (Sorry WOW folks), you will need tactics to give you an edge. This will affect you later down the line and it will be difficult to go back and correct. I think this will at least slow down a few folks. (2) Gold/Item Selling....sure it will happen, but again, it's impact has been mitigated. Many items you get are bound to you. Items from PQs are bound. Many quest items are bound. Keep renown items you buy are bound. Sure, I find items for other classes off of mobs from time to time, but nothing I would say that could be farmed. It works very randomly. For coin, there isnt' a whole lot you actually need a pile of coin for (Even with crafting, you scavenge a lot and also pick up a fair amount of coin anyways). As they have said throughout, I think the focus is really the WAR and not collecting items and coin for sale. |

Not to mention making balancing much easier. Sounds good to me, raiding the same content endlessly for a small percent drop is not very fun. |

You also need to remember not everyone is going to go the same masteries. You might be sword and board and the next dude might be 2H and so on. |

MMorpg - The blessing, and The curse of modern gaming. |
wait a secocnd... its not gear based game - SWEET! But i love to see mine character to look cool and not like ather 2000 people on server... WoW is item based, but in one way, i love it. Becouse every class, every race looks diffrent. And gear makes you look so cool. I prefer see mine character in nice gear, then in mass production hoodies and jeens... I even had lvl 60 undead male warrior, and i dumped it and made a Tauren female warrior from lvl 1 on same server. Only becouse it looked alot alot cooler. Well moust of poeple wount understand, but hey :D Thats where AOC sliped aswell. You start at lvl 1 like a hobo, and at lvl 80 you end up like hobo. now i am not WOWfanboy or TrO.OL . I still looking very forward to WAR, and i am deffenetly playing it! |

Binding items and making them no-trade is not a solution to RMT sales. First it destroys any in-game economy, secondly it forces linear gameplay like raiding, and third people can still sell the characters/accounts with those items on them. Any developer that thinks binding items and making them no-trade is the solution to RMT fails miserably. You don't ruin the game with those types of unrealistic mechanics in order to try and solve another issue. |

Items will have reasonable sales....I never said ALL were bound to the player. You do find some good green/blue items that aren't bound. I think you are mistaking it for an "all or none" approach....it's not. It's a very nice balance. As for all those posting worried over player customization....trust me...there is LOADS of things to make your character look different than other same-class players. The already mentioend dyes and trophies do a lot...and no one has mentioned that each armor pieces has TWO dye options...primary color and secondary....so that right there is crazy combos. BUT also, there are SEVERAL various armors and what not to make you look different. Sure, in the end, everyone will go for the best Tier4 stuff, but till then...you have LOTS of options.Lastly....you also can select to show/hide your helm and cloak....might seem small, but it is more customization of appearance. Sooooo......yeh, you won't be cookie cutter if you don't want to be. |
