She said that it is not uncommon for these companies to cause the unfortunate event of order cancellation. |

I used my Visa card which I always use for online purchases. Never had a problem with this card actually. And amazon accepted it without any problem.
EDIT: The guy also sent another e-mail telling me to order from www.bn.com then. Haha. Ultima Online 98~04 |

I pre-ordered the CE from Amazon.com but canceled it around mid-August because I wasn't sure I wanted to still play do to a few things I heard. Well, I changed my mind and went to get the CE again but it was sold-out.
I called GameStop and they had a pre-order bonus package left so I am stuck with that. This is my first time pre-ordering from them and I am hoping they don't screw me over. The guy at the store said that I can pick the game up on September 17th when he calls me. I have 48 hours to pick it up or they refund my money and sell the game to someone else.
A bit weird but whatever, I'll be there on the 17th. |

DIRECT2DRIVE.com!!! I ordered yesterday, got all my key in less than a minute via email. got accepted to preview weekend this morning. and didnt even have to drive anywhere. gamestop is a joke, everytime a new xbox 360 game would come out i would stop buy there just for kicks, 3 times i went there on release days for games, the guy says(the same guy) , "you should have preordered, we only have enough for those who preordered", i tell him everytime, "thats ok i will just go across the street to circuit city and get it". he always gets the same empty look on his face. AND CIRCUIT CITY ALWAYS HAS MASS COPIES ON THE RELEASE DAY. why are they even called "GAME-STOP", should be called LAMESTOP. a video game store that doesn't want to make money, i dont get it, why don't they just order more copies for the popular games?? |

I love my Gamestop. The people there are always extremely helpful and really know what they are talking about. I have yet to have a bad experience with them, pre-order, normal purchase, or return. Actually, for me they always go above and beyond for returns. I save a ton of money buying used with my discount, and as for PC games the Gamestop I go to has a better PC selection than any other store I know. ------------------------------ |

Have to agree with most of the posters. Every Gamestop I have been into from Miami to Orlando, FL , the people are centric around the console gamers and not the PC Gamers (I understand thats where the money is now). Yeah, some of them Gamestop stores may be nice, but most of them don't know shit about PC Games. However If I am looking for a OLD PC Game like Ultima Online or Shadowbane, they still got that on their shelves. Does'nt Gamestop Corporate figures get it yet? Console game machines will be something of the past, sooner or later.

call me what you want too.. But thats all we have around here is gamestop.. lol. used to be various independent companies, but umm.. we see how far that got them.. Bought out.. so now every game store is a gamestop, and not all of them are "bad" or "evil empires".. lol, hell some of my friends work there and they could give a damn less what banner the store works under.. I walked in, asked to preorder Warhammer. He asks, Dawn of War II or Online.. I say Online.. He tells me the minimum is five bucks.. I purchase the whole thing.. He hands me a red looking box that says pre-order bonus.. I take my reciept and leave.. "evil"? nahhhhh... “There are dread secrets that none may know and have peace. More, secrets that render whosoever knoweth them an alien unto the tribe he belongs to, that cause him to walk alone on earth, for he who takes, pays.” -E. Hoffmann Price |

I live in Tucson, Arizona, where people are mostly very mellow and kind. Theres like one Gamestop out of like the 10 or so in town that doesn't have PC games, but I try not to go there. I don't work for Gamestop, although I wish I could based on the experiences I always have there. ------------------------------ |

Wow, that really does suck. Don't know why all the hate towards gamestop and for all those praising amazon, must not have been around for very long because Amazon has had more than it's fair share of issues with the my media/downloads page. Got my keys from gamestop about 3 minutes after I ordered. If you haven't been charged then it's really not that big of a deal, go to direct2drive or something and order it. |

Funny, I consider myself an old school, true gamer, and I love my local Gamestop. I know all the employees there by first name, I get everything I preorder ... all my bonuses .. they even make sure to put limited stuff back for me if I can't make it in right away. Instead of treating the people at gamestop like "retail monkeys", give them some respect, talk to them and establish a friendship with them.

Every store has its problems, but Gamestop/EBgames are definately pro-console stores. In every store I've been to, they've only had one little shelf in the back of the store that had PC games, all the rest were consoles games, especially 'resold' console games. That's where they make the meat of their money, from people selling their old games and them reselling it for a hefty markup. PC games just don't have that value, in addition to titles simply being pirated rather than bought, something that is much more difficult to do on the console machine. As to Direct2Drive, I don't like them simply because you have to now refer to them for everything to do with the game, as you didn't buy the game per se, you bought a copy that was made for Direct2Drive. So you have to get your patches and such through them. |
