MMorpg - The blessing, and The curse of modern gaming.

Hey lads. I dont whant to make a troll thread or flame one. Just your opinion guys!

I had very bad experience with AOC ( like moust of you, i guess) and i promised myself: " i will newer preorder any mmorpg in mylife, i will wait a month or two".

But now, when release date is so near. I sow that new Cinematic Video ( WoW style, in good way ) which was pure AWESOME! I whant to prebook it :( .

I was looking forward to this game for a very long time. We see people from beta, who are very happy with game it self and developers. Its just looks too good to be truth.

So will you chance prebooking it aswell? Or you will wait for a month? what its going to be?

English is not mine native language, so all english teachers, buzz off plz. Leave me alone!

p.s. if you prebook game from amazon or game.com will you get the game on release date, or you will have to wait a few days after release? Becouse gamestop in ireland allways late atleast 3-4days with new releases :(

I pre-ordered for the nice bonuses it yields (early start, open beta). I'd probably buy this game anyway at some point this year, just to test it first hand during the "free" month. As much as I'm interested in peoples' opinions on this game expressed here or in more or less official reviews, it never really stopped me from buying a game I consider worth checking.

No...I will not pre-order a game again, except for maybe the BioWare MMO, simply because BioWare, unlike most other companies, have never yet disappointed me with their products. I've played all their RPG's and have never been disappointed (and Mass Effect was just awesomeness in a box!!!! XD), so I will make an exception for them, because I trust them.

With any other company....nope. No pre-orders ever again. -.-

I was in the exact same position as you. I pre-ordered AoC and got burned bad.

Here is the difference I saw though. I pre-ordered AoC specifically so that I could get the Early Access to give the game a quick try out to see if I liked it enough to actually buy it. I(along with many others) got completely screwed over by the pre-order Early Access program (It said clearly on the box "Get into the game early", not "Have a small chance to get into the game early" or anything like that) and frankly, that should have been a sign of what was to come.

So now we have the same position. The pre-order says you can get into open beta, and start playing early. So I figured, why not. I'll pay $10 to try the game out and see if I will like it enough to buy the whole game. If I get screwed over again ala AoC, I'll wait on buying it.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Jumpgate Evolution, Earthrise, Fallen Earth, anything sandbox.

I really dont think you have to woory about an AoC debacle with WAR.

I too felt the same way as you did, but then I got to play War. I now have the game pre-ordered.

It's $.99 to get a pre-order box from target, more then worth it to try the game out for an entire week... I found this out after I got mine from gamestop($5) still more then worth it for preview weekend + open beta + head start = 1/2 month of game play. IMO get it, I believe at gamestop you can even cancel it and get the $5 as store credit, and try it out to see if you like it yourself. Thats a pretty unbeatable deal if you ask me.

I'd tell you to pre order play the OB and cancel before the game launches if you dont like it but if your using the EU copy of the game you can't do this.

Why people bitch over pre ordering is beyond me if you pre order & play the Open Beta and HATE IT damn cancel the damn pre order, NEVER pay in full a simple small down payment and they have to refund or in store credit that.  If you order online you dont even need a downpayment.

Everyone whines over omg I lost money on AOC well you damn played the OB saw the OB remarks and still bought it you shot your OWN self in the foot.   Atleast people were smart enough to cancel their pre orders with Vancrap after its OB & subsequent screams of millions.

Granted they hid behind the Tutorial zone for AOC but big glaring red signs were there and everyone ignroed them.

I beta tested both games, I can say honestly say  I never got past lvl 20 in AOC. I havent got past lvl 20 in Warhammer either (without the use of a template) What I can say is without a doubt:  Warhammer is A WAY BETTER GAME THEN AOC.

I mean if you dont want to pre-order and want to wait for a trial/ reviews you will be missing out on a alot of fun because this game really is fantastic.  Also I don't think they will be offering a trial anytime soon because they aren't going to need subscribers.

Just take my word for it when I say this game will have you hooked.  Also if you go to gamestop or any other retail store to pre-order you arent bound to buying the game.  You only really have to put $5 on the game to play open beta.  You will almost definatley be shelling out the extra 45 to play.

So pre-order in my mind is really the only opportunity anyone is going to have to play the game on a trial.

This weekend is a free-play trial weekend.  They really dont have anything to hide.  if you didnt get an invitation I can send you mine as I am already in closed beta.
