I Fight for the Hand, I''ll die for the hand. |
Okay, I've decided not to do a pro/con list. Most beta testers have already covered most of them on this forum, some right on the dot, some over the top. But I've been confused over the reaction to the games look. Now I know its not the most hardcore engine used. But the graphics are above average, even at thier current LOCKED setting. I thought they were pretty detailed. The armor of course was beautiful, my problem was the loading of the textures. The buildings the npcs all looked good. As to the landscape...well it depends on where you are. Norsca amd Nordenland are really depressing and bleak feeling, just how it should feel. But once I closed the game and opened WoW, I couldn't even look at the game. I just wanted to hear from people who disapprove of the look to give some of thier reasoning. Even if the reason is that you just plain hate the look of it.

The thing that stood out to me was how bright and plain everything looked, environment wise. Yes, the armor and weapon graphics were very nice looking, but the world itself...blah. I realize that many of the lighting effects and textures were not in place...but damn, it was hard to look at. My beta experience was mostly from the High Elf and Dark Elf areas, and it appears my opinion is different than other testers, so I am assuming they played other races and were in other areas. I would almost compare the graphics to when I played Shadowbane....very flat, very plain. |

As a fan of the tabletop and the IP I think the World environments/atmospheres are spot on. I really enjoy running around the World. At the same time though I thought the early graphics of WoW were cool and I liked the style. It wasn't until the ridiculous end game equipment that I thought WoW looked like a joke. |

Dan, where you fighting in the High elf area? IF so i find that area too bright and cheery for such a gritty story, but i can understand the idea of a pristine environment for the elves. As for the empire/chaos, its nice and dark. Has a very nice brutal feel to it. As for the Dwarven lands, it definately feels dirty and perhaps on the verge of ruin. Besides my personal distaste for the happy elves, they did a great job. |

Ya I think its a matter of taste. To Warhammer fans, it feels spot on. |

I find the majority of the landscapes very vistually interesting and well done. There are some bleak and boring areas, but i'm pretty sure the point was to actually make them feel like desolate wastelands... |
