I've got this creature on my back.. it just wont let go. |
I'm either blind... or there's nothing there... I've played countless other MMOs... and I'm playing two of them now... I've also been playing WAR beta... playing and playing actually, trying to find out what's all the fuss about.... is it the RvR ?
I mean I've got feelings... I like playing games... but there's nothing about this game that would excite me... What are these elements that are supposed to rock my socks off? The main draw of the gameplay for me is just finally getting a modern game with some real support behind focused on large scale pvp.
The fact that it's in a fantasy setting that I've loved for a long time was the initial draw, but I being able to log in to a game and spend hours simply fighting chaotic battles nonstop while progressing a character just was sorely needed.
If this game delivers then that's enough for me, need something like this to even energize me about this entire genre anymore. Just want to play an online game that is frantic and fun while still getting my "rpg character development" fix. |

I've never played DAoC, but I'm quite excited to try this game out. I'm currently a big WOW-addict, and I'm just looking for something new. |

How does that have anything to do with WAR?
Honestly people just because you played SWG doesnt mean you will like Vanguard.
I hate those type of comparisons.

Thats the only thing I dont like about wow today,is the Instanced PvP battles.

If I feel happy playing the game, then that is it for me. Why must it be amazing? As for those big words, oh come one, TV ads tells you that drinking a coke will raise you to heaven. Do you really believe in that? Judge a game by its entertainment values. Who cares what they say on a board? |

Lol, ok dude just so you know SWG isn't like Vanguard therefore there cant be a comparison. WAR is like DAoC therefore its a big attraction to old DAoC players, RvR just rocks, if you haven't tried it then too bad for you. ![]() ![]() |

-Jive Yep, I feel the same. Soon as the honor system and battlegrounds rolled in, my interest in playing WoW began to decline. |

Thanks for some of the constructive responses..
As for the comparisons between the RvR in WoW and WAR... why are you even comparing it?

There's nothing wrong with not liking PVP. Nothing anyone says to you is going to convince you that you like it, when you don't. What are you looking for? WAR is all about the RVR, and everything that RVR entails. That's the answer to your question. End of thread. |

I like it and it is the best mmo I have ever played. I have also never played doac before and I have played many other mmos. What so amazing is you can't seem to rap your mind around the fact that some people like games you don't. You don't like war then get the hell out of here. |

But besides that, it is clear that you don't like the game. No problem there, just uninstall it and don't look back. There are enough other MMO's out there, so it's not like you are forced to play the game. |

WoW was never about World PvP. It was something you could do.. but sadly ignored. RvR is World PvP x 100. ;) |

It's not WoW. Bud-dum-dum-bump! Let it be known that I hate WoW with a passion and will defend almost any MMORPG against it. |

It's not DAoC either. Far from it. RvR came from DAoC - 3 factions battling it out over central keeps and trying to conquer them. ---- Warhammer started out as a 2 factions game but with 3vs3 theme. 6 capitols each defended by its 6 "home" sub Armies. Each would help each other reunited in ONE big push to clean it all. A very dynamic RvR setting : X ---- X ----X | | | Y ----Y ----Y A mere 8 weeks ago - the idea being promoted for 3 years now was dropped. 4 of the 6 Capitols were scrapped (and replaced by some minor midfields keeps) and more importantly the 6 subarmies were replaced with just 2 factions. That was the reason some Armies lost their tanks btw. It is now "RvR" with just 2 factions and each with their capitol. The bad guys vs the good guys. RvR ??? ---- Two years ago: it was going to be ALL open world fights and sieges, now 95% of all the fighting will be instanced (BG's become "scenario's) and even the end capitol sieges will be player capped (to avoid lag). ---- Last fact: forget about server (RvR?) proud: because most instanced scenarios will be server linked (to avoid too long waiting queues). So what have we here?: a 1 vs 1, with instanced scenarios linked servers and the good vs the bad guys. So long so good: but only the programmers between us know what it's like to finish a program where 65% of end content was scrapped... 8 weeks ago. 18 Sep is now a rope connected to Mythic's neck and it was EA that attached it. Hence no end game showing in Beta. The announcement timing of this rather big content scrap was .... very interesting. It came 3 weeks after the Conan crash launch (of not having end game siege sytems and other announced content). .....need I say more ?

A: The CB testers have done end-game. They know it's all there. They know it's fun. They know it's not incomplete. Mythic just doesn't want people 'finishing' the game in the goddam open beta. B:And "95% of all the fighting will be instanced"? All I can say is wait for tomorrow, so you can see just how wrong you are when you can actually, you know, see the game. |
