Anyone who ever post on this forum will never be successful game designers, because they don't understand anything. |

it's like saying that a hockey mother of five would never have a chance of being VP of the USA. She should stay at home instead of running for the PTA, Mayor, Govenor, etc, rather than trying to improve upon/change what needs to be done. |

Do you ever notice how people here are more interested in talking about what their ideal games could offer, rather than talking about how such games could be implemented? This is why these people will NEVER be good game designers. Allow me to point out the very obvious... They are not interested in the inner working of any MMORPGs and they aren't smart enough to understand it anyway. Truth hurt, isn't it? |

I got off my hindquarters and worked on it. modsbylaz.planetdiablo.gamespy.com This is not an ideal engine, but I got as far as I could go with Median XL. Next step: cash in on my brand equity in Blizzard circles when SC2 comes out. You know how Dota is more popular than War3? I won't settle for less. Standalone games require a full team and the associated drama. Because I have a real life job, and because 'game designer' is a career with a 0.01% success rate, I do mods. So far with decent success - more than most indie games for sure. And, although the players always whine for 'easier' and 'more dmg', and although the Diablo 2 engine blows for modding, I got most of my character ideas more or less intact into the game. Hopefully SC2 will allow me to build the game mechanics from the ground up and do them properly. (Hit points are so '70s) Dota, I'm coming for you. Mods by Laz | Diablo II | Median 2008 | Median XL |

Definitetly never give up on your dreams, but while your dreaming.... take your MBA, youll need it, cause one thing is for certain, unless you work your way up inside companies like Blizzard or NCSoft, YOUR idea is never going to happen unless you finance it yourself, thats how life works. Get your degree, work like hell for 15-20 years, THEN you might stand a chance with the investors. |
