wow lol, they probably meant "Ones chance to save humanity" but someone in the engrish department screwed up.

Though, that doesnt make sense to me either considering the game, now that DNA thing they have been talking about, maybe lol

How utterly important. Nothing holds the merit of a game like a typo. This is such an awesome, well thought out thread. If they can't spell every word correctly, the game must be moving backwards. Amirite? Eyemriterite?

Well if they can't check the grammar or spelling of something they write, how can we trust them to code the game or handle its financial frameworks?

No kidding. They can't make a decent advertisement, let alone game, and now they think they are "saving the world" by dumping useless crap in space? Way to spend your money while TR and some of your other games tank, guys.

I has no play TR grammer are not build bad game creators build bad game.

Anyway, as far as I know, the dev and marketing team are actually two teams. Since two people have different traits (in real life), it stands to reason that one aspect of the game doesn't always indicate the entirety of the game is crap. Espicially when it's a marketing mistake and not a developmental mistake.

lol what a thoughtless post. use your brain please.

if a game can't even spell check a major advertisement that's taking up a whole front page of a very popular gaming site, then they're obviously not the brightest group of people. doesn't matter what team they belong to, someone could have VERY easily picked up on it. not to mention it's been left up for over 12 hours like that. if they have a slightly functional team the ad would have been pulled within a hour and fixed.

Do companies make the ad banner for this site or is the website owners(market dept.) building the ads?

Was the text added over the banner already in possession of mmorpg.com, or simply sent with a typo from TR marketing dept?

I mean if you're going to shoot down a plane in flight make sure it's the right one no?

If they do it like most other companies then NCSoft designed the banner themselves. Would you pay for advertising on another site and then allow them to design it for you and not be involved?

Stop feeding the fanbois!! everyone who played TR knows it sucked balls. i haven't played it since beta, but i still don't hear good things.

on a lighter note, they brought down the ad briefly (i thought they'd fix it), then put it back up with the same dumbass mistake.

Also, did you notice this site has an ad for some game with "Your one chance to save humanity" or something to that effect? I found it quite funny since it showed up at the bottom of this thread before.

Ads / banners / text / marketing write-ups / etc., are all done by the company wishing to advertise. MMORPG.COM only provides a space for the advertisement.

You're absolutely right... the game has to be moving backwards. A typo in an advertisement is beyond inexcusable. These things get checked and re-checked and normally have to be proofed and signed-off on by whoever is in charge.

Because when it comes to mass-communication of any kind, close enough is definitely not good enough, especially when you're trying to sell something.

They haven't just dropped the ball - they've kicked it out onto the road into oncoming traffic.

Welcome to TR, the stonehands of MMO development. Dropping the ball is actually one of the courses they hold. Along with how to add things no one asked for and how to delay important content until your subscriber base has less people than a Florida Marlins baseball game. I can reach more people yelling out a window at my house than TR does daily.

Seriously, it's not like they are proofreading a novel or something. It's one sentence FFS. How many people did it have to get approval from before it went live?

Yeah, proof-reading a novel would require actual effort. Proof-reading that ad (with a whole 23 words) just required the attention span of a four-year old. It's one sentence FFS.

Any ad would require the signed approval of someone in a relatively senior position. And an ad with that little text making it all the way to their desk with a typo on it would see whoever was responsible spanked.

The typo actually making it off that person's desk and out into the world... that kind of stuff can be grounds for demotion or dismissal. There are some professions in which accuracy is non-negotiable. This is one of them.

There's a formula for everything, even famous quotes.

8/21/08 6:54:35 PM#25

Are we reduced to criticizing TR for typos in ads now?

Are we truly so bored as to bash a dead game's final plea for attention?

That's low... even for us.
