sure im goading a little. but you know what? these packs of wolves are making me go to the official site for issues, questions. i just want to look for links on this site with normal questions and answers. nothing but statements here. im a little bother about it, but ill live. 

What would be more effective is listing the positives in the game and any bug-free aspects of it.  Unfortunately the list is small, if it exists at all.  Oh wait there's Tortage, I forgot.

To the OP: Rather than whine about the whiners I invite you to join the discussion and offer your opinion on the points the detractors are posting.

Actually Tortage was symptomatic of what made me want to quit because it was far to much like a section of a console game. It was pretty enough the first time round but I found it too claustrophobic & the thought of repeating it has put me off creating alts.

There might be an escape from Tortage but there is no escape from the Destiny quest. The whole game seems to have been centered on a single player storyline rather than creating a persistent MMO world.

I play a Lvl 58 Demonologist & there is practically no choice in armour/robes at all. I was lucky to pick up a 'Blue Level 50 Robe' eight levels ago, but at every new level when I check the Trader there is nothing to but in upgrades. This is possibly because the Trader is so cumbersome to use that most people just sell items to vendors apart from at endgame. I know that I end up doing that a lot.

I don't hate the game, I just feel disappointed that it turned out to be a console game with delusions of grandeur & poor itemisation rather than an MMO. Maybe Funcom will turn it around in the end, but the novelty has worn off now & I don't have the patience to wait & find out. I am still playing currently though which is why I have posted. Once I have quit I won't even bother to check the forums, let alone post.

As for BluberryHaze's comments, you are making exactly the same mistake as the people that post the senseless 'Failcom Smells' type threads. There are not only two groups 'Fanboi/Hateboi' & not all the people who criticise the game quit three months ago. The reason why the boards are such a mess is precisely because subsets of the supporters & critics seem obsessed with polarising everything into some ridiculous display of tribal behaviour, but I suppose that only reflects what people do in RL too.

Yes i have played war, and its the most fun i have had in an mmo to date. This forum is people power and so are mmo's in general. if the public dont like it , they will tear it down and thats how life should be. The people can single handedly destroy a company if they are cheated..and i for one love that.

896+ thousand members on this site with a significant number of them inactive. People power? We have been cheated so many times in these last couple of years "The People" don't seem to really care any more. Hence they are settling for a polished version of WoW. Hurray lets all conform. Also I don't really think we've destroyed any companys.

Secondly I know people playing the War beta and all I have heard is how much better it is than AoC (not that that surprises me in the least) and how polished it is already with over amonth before release.

Any game released in a half working state is better that AoC considering it is missing half of the game and the massive amounts of bugs on top of that make AoC at best a 1/4 of a game.

Funcom should be hung for the massive lies they put out about AoC to get people to buy it.  And they should be ashamed to charge $50 for that kind of garbage.

No I haven't played WAR but I have played AOC and it blows. I've never played a game that couldn't hold my attention for more than 2 weeks. AOC is so bad that even if you like it you won't have much to do in about 6 months because the sub base is dropping close to the 100k mark and Failcom won't have the money to finish their beta game. So we all wish you luck but at the same time we all know you are heading down a dead end road, sorry dude. We all wanted AOC to be great and we all got lied so yes we will come in here and let everyone know how we feel about it, sorry about that too.

AoC is a poor MMO.  That has nothing to do with WAR - nothing at all.

It's quite possible that WAR will also not live up to its hype.  AoC, however, has already failed in that department, and FC only has itself to blame for that.  It has nothing to do with WAR.

I don't care how you word it the fact remains Funcom maniupulated everything about the release to maximze their income from broke assed POS excuse for a game and screwed us over. Add to that the terrible customer service and horrible patches that have broken more than they have fixed.
 

I was greatly looking forward to AoC(Even bought a brand new PC for it). I greatly enjoyed it for 2-3 months. One day I just didn't feel like clicking the Game Icon on my desktop. After a week of this I decided to cancel(for now). I still think AoC was a great leap forward for MMOs. I still think the combat system was the best yet. If I had to choose one reason to explain why I quit playing, I'd have to say the lack of any real risk(even on a PvP Server). Of course this is the same reason I stopped playing WoW or SWG. My problem appears to be with MMORPGs and not with AoC.

For a week leading up to release, and for the entire time I spent playing the game, I refused to come to these forums. I had thought I'd be able to come here for answers about gameplay, to discuss my likes and dislikes, and maybe even find some friends to play with in-game. Sadly, all I found here were people who spent most of their day bad-mouthing the game and bad-mouthing Funcom. I decided to not ask my questions because I knew the majority of replies would be negative. I honestly don't care that they had their own opinions, it just bothered me that they all gathered here and wouldn't leave. In fact, they are still here months after I quit! What truely makes this sad is that all these people are not really "trolls" by the normal definition. A lot of them make intelligent posts, fair arguements, and use facts to back up their opinions. They just don't leave and make room for those who enjoy the game and want to use the forums for their intended purpose. These people have corrupted these forums and given MMORPG.com quite a black-eye in my opinion. Now I understand the reason why people are banned for giving their opinions on the official forums for many MMORPGs. When you do this kind of stuff you are not show your disdain to the developers, you are just showing disrespect to your fellow gamers and MMORPG fans.

i am in the WAR beta so I am bound by NDA. However, I always play two MMOs at a time. It is AOC and LOTRO currently. That way I don't rush to max level and get bored. I will still be playing AOC but will probably change to WAR for the different gaming experience.

These forums have gone way past overkill on the AOC hate mongering but that is simply my opinion. I have stopped reading alot of posts due to the extreme, nearly irrational hatred, that has developed, warrented or not  in some level it seems over the top.

Anyway, I am not an AOC fanboi but I do love MMOs and I enjoy AOC quite a bit.

 I think you heard this before, but you should give a try to EVE Online. There's the best PVP system.

To the OP. I agree with most of your rant/yammer.

I still love AoC as does many of my guildies. There are bugs but hell LOTRO has had a AH bug for a while now that is doing bad things to the ecomony. Games have bugs. I will fulyl admit AoC should not have been released and I hope people learn from this but to slag a game as readily as it is here seems a bit much. I took in all the reviews here and still bought the game. Now we have a good guild and its growing. If the game becomes a steaming pile, like the game that will remane nameless cu/nge, then I will stop playing just like that game. But for now its fun, let us that have fun play. Hell its worth the money for the first 30 levs anyway imho.

So basically what you are saying is that you undestand why MMO forum moderators ban people for telling their viewpoint? I dont consider telling your viewpoint, spam. However, the posts get locked once they contain any negative viewpoints about AoC. Freedom of speech for the folk, not..
