Some people are getting warnings/bans for calling "people in general" morons, while a lot of people are calling others newbs, noobs, fanbois, etc and are not receiving anything.  I fail to see the difference.  I will probably get banned/warned for this but hey fuck it.  MMORPG.COM sucks, lets all go to MASSIVELY.COM.

If the majority of the mature and intelligent posters here were to leave en mass, I guarantee this site would die overnight.  This is something that sadly has been taken for granted by the owners of this site, evidenced through their choice of certain employed individuals.

I would like to see a mass migration, possibly to mmosite, but, alas, when one gets used to a place, one will put up with a lot of stuff before fianlly shoving off.

Forum moderation on this site has been, at best, inconsistent.

If something breaks the rules, report it.

Report button above peoples posts helps.

Also, per the banner above this, Positions are available at MMORPG.com. Includes Moderators.

I'm sure there are people here that would make great Moderators.

I got a warning for a civil post I made telling some cursing kid to settle down.  Some rule about adding fuel to the fire or some crap.

I deleted the PM and e-mail I got from mmorpg without a second glance and got on with my life.  It was wasting space on my gmail account.     If they want to waste their time warning or banning me for making an attempt to keep a thread civil, so be it.  The internet is big.

I said " Sigh, what a tool" on the Nda boy scouts thread, whilst referring to a total shill and I got my comment removed and a warning. That comment was all I said, and I got warned.

To the staff of Mmorpg.com..Stop this shit or your site will be losing members very quickly, we are not here to be silenced by you jerks. This used to  be a place to voice your opinions without being so damn censored, your fucking up badly now..so go ahead and stop.

Fun MMORPG.com fact #34: We have a chatroom!

Disclaimer: I'm just an individual mod, I don't speak for the admins or other mods, just because I use Colgate toothpaste doesn't mean MMORPG.com loves Colgate toothpaste etc.

Guess I should probably try and give some constructive input here.

If you think that moderation seems a little inconsistent at times, you're probably right. There are a few reasons for this.

For one, it should be noted that these forums are in no way small. The main way of dealing with issues is reports; If somebody reports a post, a moderator will inevitably get around to checking it out. But if a post remains unreported, there's a good chance that it won't get dealt with; Not out of malice or lazyness, but simply because there's a hell of a lot of posts and not a lot of moderators.

Secondly, mistakes do happen. I myself have dolled out more than one accidental banning because I misread the date on a past warning. There is an appeal system, and it's there for a reason. If you think you've been wrongly banned or warned, you should send mail to community@mmorpg.com. I realize that probably sounds like a typical corporate buck-pass, but it's there for a reason. If a moderator makes a mistake, unless somebody says something, that mistake probably isn't going to get rectified. That's one of the things the Community Manager is there for; taking care of things that fall through the cracks.

Can't think of much else to say beyond that, but I'm kind of tired at the moment. Just wanted to throw my thoughts in.

Any views or opinions expressed in the above post are entirely my own and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of MMORPG.com, its associates or affiliates.

You called the guy a tool, which is an insult and considered a personal attack. Someone decided to report you for it. That's the way it goes. There are rules very clearly spelled out. You take your chances with the rules, sometimes you get away with it and sometimes you burn yourself. You burned. Deal with it and move on.

i got banned a few months ago for describing an exploit I used in pre-cu swg. I guess the moderator didn't know that the game mechanics and the class I used don't exist anymore.
