The mail says that your char will be stored for least 6 months, but from all I've read elsewhere CCP keep the chars longer. Often for years. I bet if they CCP start cleaning out old chars, they will start with expired trial chars. Because they must have tons of those, and with a trial char it is least likely that someone will give up on EvE because he lost years of leveling. |

1) Character data barely takes up any place, their mainly just a few lines of text of what you have and what you don't. 2) "Greetings from CCP"? Never receievd e-mails from them, but that doesn't sound right. The e-mail adres says ccp (or at least EVE), you don't have to repeat that. You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up. |

hm all mmorpgs have this delete chars after some inactivity. I been playing mmorpgs from 1996 and been inactive in 2-3 years in some games and realy the chars are still there. I think I have accounts in every mmorpg there is and I think its only Neocron that have deleted my char but after a week I got the char back. So nothing to worrie about :) esp from CCP.. |

Meh, even if they did only keep them for 6 months, Funcom states they'll delete after 3. So at least CCP is a little nicer. |

I have a friend that played at release, quit, played a few years later when I started, still had his release character, and his character still exists in game after he quit again nearly 3 years ago. I have a feeling your character will be fine. From my experience, CCP tends to stand apart from other companies in terms of being good to customers, current or former.

a game might have a policy of deleting accounts, but that doesnt mean they will its in the games best interest to keep all accounts that way they can always ask if you want to return...or hope you do ...if any accounts are deleted it would be the trial accounts... but even those should be kept for the same purposes....marketing telling you that you account can be deleted after 6 months is just a ploy to get you to return... |

It's called...... < wait for it > ....... Marketing. They are trying to persuade you to return, ie subscribe again. You know, give them money. |

Thats standard with most MMOs so that if/should they decide to delete chars, you can't come back to them and make a fuss(you can, but they had something in writing all along saying they have the right to do so). In EQ it wasn't uncommon for them to delete chars that were of certain age under a certain level(like 2 or so) If you've made some significant progress, I'm sure your acct is fine. If its just a abandoned newbie character, don't be surprised to find it missing in 6months. Especially since the game is still growing in subscribers last time I heard. |
