I think it will do what's promised. But i for one am not overly hyped about it

But since it resembles wow in many ways my friends are gonna grab it so i might aswell.

same. but im getting it anyway. i want to replace EVE. iv been playing the game for a very long time now and need another pvp game.

I'm really curious if it can give me the feeling I had when playing daoc (my first)

But since there's not much info out there I'm wondering about that too

Of course it is over hyped, just watch how many people come back after release and start bashing it. People are expecting too much from a genre that is not being changed much at all. (dont get me wrong i love mmo's and wish i could find one to immerse myself in for a a couple of hours a day)

It happened to AoC big time because everyone hyped the shit out of it and then..oh i wont even go into it, im sure you have read posts about it.

There is too much speculation, too many people saying "its going to be great i KNOW it!" or for instance today someone posted "do you think the combat will be too slow" when all they have seen is videos. Its people like this that are just hoping to get burned. I am not ripping on any of you, just that ur easily setting yourselves up for dissapointment if anything goes wrong or something you thought would be in it wasnt. I will most likely try WAR a month or so after release and im certainly not saying it will be a bad game as i love warhammer board games and figurines, just dont set yourselves up and then come back with hate and anger about it if you get dissapointed by this game.

You know aswell as I do that nothing could "replace" EvE, only sit snuggly along side it...

Dont get your damn hopes up, expect mediocre and you'll not get disappointed.

Hype is there exactly to get the hopes and expectations up sky high and get as many people as possible interested to ensure investments income. It has nothing to do with truth.

Warhammer is not for everyone, and most wont like what they'll experience. You'll see.

I just wait to see the roar of forumtrolls coming down from their mountains in numbers in the end of next month, its gonna be huge roar I tell you =)

I will never trust any mmo company after all the funcom lies =), but we can always hope that Mythic will change that trend =)

I'm more worried about the massive people logging in and make the world server crash ( or anything like that).  And then the people start whining and say the customer servive is fail because every1 who just tried logging in, is sending bloody petitions because of that.

I just hope WAR will make the difference.

i dont think so, its very hard to get stuff to work when it comes to massive connections at the same time(DDOS attack =) ?). If they get many subs, then we all should know that the servers are going to die pretty fast =)

I remeber WoW at launch in europe =) 3 million ppl wanted to login at the same time =) everything just went down =) And the servers was very unstable for a while after that. I think we can expect that we cant play as we want the first 24-36H =)

Yeah i understand that, and im sure it will (though i hope not ><). But what about the people who don't understand why the servers are getting down? They will get upset and start bashing the game on forums like these and the WAR community. which is VERY disapointing.

Its always like that =) ppl dont understant they get mad, its like that everywhere. I have ppl calling me every hour and act like AoC forum flamers if one of their mail is delayed 10 min on the mailserver. Dosent matter how much i explain, they just ignore, and do what they know best in certain situations. Yell like hell =D

Hype is created by telling stuff about the game.
People then get excited so get hyped because of that info.
 

Everything that mythic has said has come true. Everything they told us has been placed in the game, except for the cities and the classes.

How can a game be overhyped? Aoc was overhyped, they told us stuff that wasn't true... which means overhyped.

How can something be overhyped if everything is in the game that they said would be?

if you know how mmo's work in a technical way then you should know what to expect from all of this stuff. If you hear city siege and you imagine 3000 people on your screen... then maybe you are overhyping cause that is on a technical standpoint not even possible (yet).

I don't see this game much hyped after the cuts. Just one month before release I'd expect more threads about it in general forums.

Poor stability at launch doesn't bug me in a mmorpg, I pretty much expect it.  It is just so hard to get stability perfect without long term mass testing.   Missing features and poor design like AOC is what bothers me, not worried about those things in WAR.
