Not sure I understand all the hatred for this game.  Yes, I have my quibbles with it too but does everyone really need to sit here and endlessly cheer for the demise of the company, etc?

Really.  It's a frigging game.  If you don't enjoy it, play something else.  I've hung out in a zillion gaming forums and this is easily the most negative one I've come across.

Like I said, not sure I understand the personal animosity and seething disdain.  I mean, if you had played for 9 months and suddenly had you inventory wiped out or something, that's one thing.

But you bought a game, played for a month or two, decided you didn't like or were irked by a few bugs ... don't you feel like the reaction is a bit over the top?

Just kidding, but that's how many people think. They delivered a relatively crap product so they deserve all this flak. It hasn't been too many months since release, and the game could always improve in the future (if Funcom wakes up) so the initial reaction may be a little bit over-the-top, but it'll stabilize in a while.

Hopefully.

But the real question is....which is worse, a post whinging about a game or a post whinging about whinging about a game?

I honestly believe the reason for the hate is that many people feel lied or cheated to.

This is just a heads up for the OP. If you haven't heard, SOE and LA screwed up SWG by implementing a New Game Experience and Combat Upgrade. Oh wait, that was over 3 years ago and I'll be damned, people are still complaining about it.

AoC has been out for how long now? 3 months? You might as well get used to this hate bandwagon cause Funcom really pissed off a lot of people.

To the OP, we did need another thread on this subject as much as we need another Lufkin post.

People hate the game because it is simply terrible, that's it. from stem to stern, it's just an awful game. That tends to make people angry. When they were told lies up till release, then delivered nothing.

What's funny is, even after funcom fixes the problems, people are still going to be complaining about how it was it release. I guess that's not so much funny as it is sad though.

Simple answer:

The hate for Funcom and AoC is created by the constant stream of LIES they (Funcom) pour (at a rate greater than Niagra Falls) out to the community.

They have not been honest with the community once nor have they admited they screwed all of us with a $50 beta that half finished  and people are fed up with it.

Funcom really doesnt deserve to succeed to be honest. People loved what AoC represented before it launched, however the people behind the "product" are very hate worthy at this point. The company that dropped a piece of crap wrapped in tin foil when they advertised pure gold tends create a bit of anger, justified anger.

People were ripped off, lied to and treated like shit by Funcom. When you pay for a service you dont want to be treated like semi-downsyndromed child who pays their bills. Their mods are abusive, mass bannings for no reason, lies on top of lies. So hating AoC is Hating Funcom and AoC is a trash product at this point.

They think their customers are stupid, and most of them are not. The people still playing the game and expecting those "rewards" are the only ones fooled by Funcoms sugar coated empty plans.

Look, people hated Vanguard for the same reason when Sigil was behind it. Now the game is great that Sony took over and actually made good on what Sigil didnt give their players. AoC needs to be handed to someone else, but that wont happen sadly since AoC's built off of Funcoms own "super secret special" game engine. The same one that took them years to make work for AO.

Funcom doesnt learn from their mistakes. The company is a joke, and the joke is on those who truly expect good things and honesty from the company.

You come to MMORPG to post that the people here don't know MMOs? I'm astonished.

I have two level 80 characters, Assassin and Herald of Xotli.

I agree that there are some balance issues between these two classes but I still enjoy the game and haven't ran out of the content I most enjoy - the real-time combat, naturally I play in a active guild with lot of active members so we go out there and do pvp and pve raids.

For me Funcom delivered the game I had been waiting for a long time a game that really sets apart with the thing you do the most anyway - the combat... It's just a matter of enjoyment to see your opponents head removed.

Issues, fine there are some but all are sort of bearable and haven't encountered ones that are game-breaking lately.

So if you are tired of the regular stand and fight combat you really should try this game - just don't roll a caster.

Funcon gets hatred cause they blatantly lie.

Funcon gets hatred cause hating them is easier than liking them.

Funcon sold a broken product, if this wasnt an MMO do you think you would cut them as much slack.

1. Game is better now

2. They are bringing those promised stuff in sooner or later

3. How much money did you lose? 70 dollars, that's one nighter in a bar

4. Broken promises, fine... Who cares about that anyway I am not in a relationship with FC

So let's go again and think about gaming - gaming is about fun and not about promises and whatever. If you enjoy a game stick with it until it gets better, if you don't - fine go outside and enjoy life and let others enjoy the game.

1 - Game is not better now - Last time I logged in it crashed every 20 mins. After 2 crashes that was it.

2- I somehow doubt that one, and they will probably charge you another 50 bucks when it does come out.

3- Thats a stupid comparison - 70 bucks could also be 70 rolls of toilet paper for funcon employees to wipe their ass with.

4- True but forum wars is fun.

Lastly if you enjoyed the game that much you should be playing it instead of forum wars.

Actually I think it's healthy therapy to let it all out. Why bottle up your disdain for this game? At least you don't get banned here for typing your mind..

1. Perhaps if you fixed the problem of the crashes you could play, I have crashed 4 times since launch and I have playtime around 25 days combined
