i pre-ordered the collectors edition today, got my beta key, put on a $20 deposit..... The Collectors Edition is $AUD149.95 (aussie dollars) that converts to $USD130.05 O_o, i better get a load of stuff with it even then i probably wont be impressed, any ways I'm a sucker for collectors editions, bought the AoC CE even the Front Lines: Fuel of War CE, both horribly shit games. Got UT2007 CE, Assassin's Creed CE, Halo 3 CE too. WTF is with Australian video game prices, the CE in the US is probably(correct me) ~ $USD70, $60 less then what i'll be paying for it. Our Dollar has gone up about 30% in the past 7 years, TVs, DVDs, CDs are all getting cheaper, yet video games are actually getting more expensive, PS3 games especially. It doesnt make any sense. Theres an importer in Australia somewhere who's making a mint with video games. /rant off

I am not economics major, but different currencies are tricky business.... you can't really compare value vs. value, rather what everyone else in europe or australia would likely pay, and the costs of getting the goods there. 80 bucks US, 70 Euro 150 Aussy needs to hit that economies value (Plus transport and demand).
Don't know if I explained that clearly, but say, a European company paid for the games in American dollars ($30 a copy, say, and then sold them for 30 Euros... profits would be outstanding.) Profit margines on Games are not nearly that high for the Retailer. Thus why the used games market is cranked and gamestop tries to con you into buying them. Don't know if that is clear or accurate, but what hit my mind.

"i better get a load of stuff with it even then i probably wont be impressed" Well it sort of tells you in the description what you get, if you chose to pay that much not really knowing what it comes with it would make you kind of dumb. Its not like they are gonna throw random things in the box. As for paying for these games, it is always a gamble if the game is not from blizzard. If it is from blizzard you can basically guarantee its going to keep you entertained for awhile... or you can try the "i need to break free from blizzard and put my faith in another game". In the end you will probably be out even more money and have a account that just rots. I paid for war like the many others hoping for a positive change, odds are always against it though. |

Still no standard PC game should cost $130.00...especially ones which also require a monthly subscription to keep playing it. |

It all comes from China anyways. Is Aussie land not closer to China than America? Shipping has very little to do with it. |
