The major quesiton here is, can the developers handle it?

The last popular, open combat game that released sold 700k copies.  That games PvP servers were more popular than their closed PvE servers.  The developers of that game are struggling and they are also making bad decisions for that game, causing the downfall of it early.  We can only hope that the developers of Darkfall do not share the same fate.

The market for so called "niche" pvp games is out there.

RvR is not true PvP.
...but its all we have for now.

I guess it's possible for a novice company to make a bugless feature complete game as their first but I'd say it's highly unlikely. If Darkfall is good it might come in second or third to WoW in non-asian markets.

Caution: Game May Cause Care Bears To Populate Forums

I hope that all time they have spent on developing is enough, maybe they couls have relesed a half done MO a years ago as most others do today. Then they must make all those last minute decisions with a angry playerbase stuck in the middle.

So maybe the biggest flaw with DF (long development) will be its greatest feature when released?

It has a better chance of being the next big flop.

The king and the pawn go back to the same box at the end of the day.

I don't think it will be any more than a niche game, but I am fairly certain they will release a good product. From various interviews (specifically Women's Gamers, where they doubted the game would ever release because the devs were so obsessed with perfecting it) and considering they've spent almost six long years working on the game... I should say a fairly solid project, but no way will it ever be the next WoW.

It doesn't aim to be the next WoW either, that's why its not another clone.
