I know I said I was done posting about the AoC for awhile, but then they pulled this PR stunt and I couldnt resist...lol... (and Rebn77 gave me permission...lol) My gut tells me that one reason FunCom hasnt said anything about server merges is because they are kinda wondering if its to late for that. (you dont do a server merge IF <big IF> you are contemplating shutting the servers down completely...) So on the one hand, I expect their Q2 report to be alot of spin... HOWEVER, they dont dare spin these reports to their investors as blatantly as they have lied to us.... so.... on the other hand, they could allow us all to see the abmismal truth in the unadulterated form... This would silence the fanbois, AND cause many of the most diehard AoC fanbois to quit themselves, (something FunCom cant afford to do) Server merges may be a mute point atm.....
what are your predictions?

It isn't going to be pretty. I think they are going to try to spin it as hard as they can without "misleading" investors. "As you can see, we have retained more subscriptions than Sigil and Vanguard had at this point" .. something like that, lol.

I don't think the report will be as bad as some people are hoping. They have the box sales and most likely a good amount of monthly subscription fees to report (both in AoC and AO). Worst games have survived longer with a lower population. Mergers are a given, but I don't think the game is being shut down any time soon. Yes, even with Warhammer :) |

The Q2 report wont show the state the game is in now. Back at june 30 there were many times more people playing the game than there is now. The Q3 report otoh could kill funcom if they dont dosomething fantastic to turn the tide in the next 3-4 weeks. "You are the hero our legends have foretold will save our tribe, therefore please go kill 10 pigs." |

(even if they didnt, its only $12 mil)... Funcom is operating a sinking ship.

Look I hate Funcom as much as anyone but I wish people would stop spouting that nonsense. Yes Funcom gets only 20% but they didn't pay the whole 40-60 mil by themselves otherwise they would get more than that. They have tons of complicated deals with investors and such and there is no way to know if it's Funcom that will lose money or their backers. If it's their investors that are in the red then Funcom will find it almost impossible to get new ones to back them up later on. If it's Funcom that takes the direct blow they'll go bankrupt. Only time will tell |

I just hope they go belly up for what they have done to the community and the way they screwed everyone for buying a beta with half the beta missing at that. |

Just to add, the whole whopping 20k max players still playing AO ( mostly fr00bs ) won't add squat. |
