Mate why dont you post all your specs or better still do dxdiag and we can help you out with regards to a new video card,as people have sort off said here it is always best to get as much info as possible when buying a pc,I know a bit about pc's but it took me over 2 months of searching sites and asking questions before I handed over the cash for the pc I bought at the start of the year and I was on a budget of 1000 euro and came in at 4 euro under :)

Maybe doesnt  help you now but maybe something to remember when you buy another new 1,Like I said why not post all your specs and people will help you with a new card  and I think by the way you speak about prices you could be very pleasantly suprised at the price of a good gamming card.

Dude - take the PC back it sound like a piece of dooky, anything even remotely used for gaming should run AoC decently. Personally, I got a HP something 9250 - just go to best buy. It had an Nvidia 8600, which worked for AoC, but upgraded it to an 8800 for $172 a month later and   if runs AoC very nicely.

I ran aoc in a pretty inexpensive system, but this was assembled by myself.

9600 Nvidia gt

amd 3700 (yes SINGLE core). 3700 has a fast fsb though and can overclock nicely.

2 gig ram.

Nothing fancy but runs like a champ. Unfortunatly the updates of AOC have made the game even more bug filled. Your better off returning the game as even with a hardcore system the game is still a unfinished bug filled mess. Not to mention Funcom has the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

It seems you just want to feel you are the victm, but you are not.

When someone with a high end ATI card has bad performance in AoC the blame is on Funcom.

When someone that lives in US and can acess internet for 5 minutes to chek wich cheap system would be nice to get buy a totally non gaming PC and blame Funcom or the game for that, it is clear to see who is the one to blame.

You live in US, it is easy to get a good video card for a low price and you know it.

You are not a kid, dont try to sound like one.

You could always search for a good tip about hardware in the internet.

You would need the same amount of money you used in your new PC to get a cheap gaming PC and play AOC, GOW,ME, War etc.

You should be pissed yes, but with yourself only.

Ermmm Grozfox. I spent roughly £1200 on my PC about 4 years ago. 1 year ago I bought and installed a GeForce 7900 graphics card for about £70. It runs every game I buy perfectly fine. You dont need $8000 (£4000 in my case) to get a computer capable of running todays games. Thats just ridiculous.

You're tired and angry but you're definately not thinking straight. It seems to me that you have a problem with facing up to the fact that its all your own fault. You clearly know very little about computers. As this pc that you appear to have wasted a load of money on isnt actually capable of running any of todays games I would suggest either (a) taking it back and getting a refund or (b) trying to install your older graphics card as a learning experience. It might not work but at least you can find out how easy it is to install a graphics card. It really is just a case of opening the pc, slotting it in and connecting a few leads. If the card wont fit into this new pc of yours then you will know that you have definately wasted your money. My mum bought my kid brother a computer ages ago and now its utterly useless as it doesnt have a PCI slot (needed for a modern graphics card) so he cant upgrade it. Now he is looking to get a new decent PC and he is looking at spending between £300 - £400 on individual parts and getting someone else to build it for him.......not exactly £4000 is it.

Oh and WoW works fine on Vista. I played it a few months ago but then I came to my senses and uninstalled it.

....and if you have to drive 64 miles just to reach a shop that sells computer hardware then you really are a wild man of the hills. Sorry but I have this image of a wild-eyed, bushy bearded man living in a ramshackle hut out on some lonely mountain somewhere. The sad thing is you can have the best pc on the planet and AoC can still run like crap because of it s poor coding and optimization. Being able to run Aoc is like rolling craps maybe your lucky maybe not. Some low end systems run it fine and some don't, and some high ends run it fine but some don't. 

Some people can run Crysis at max res with 50fps but  AoC stuters along at 15 fps on the same machine.

AoC has a LOT of problems but for you to go spend a shed load of cash on a pc thats probably for multimedia purposes is not Funcoms fault for once... If your entering a race with a car you dont spend all your cash on a family saloon...

As for needing a $1500 graphics card shows your just ignorant. Spent a total of £75 on a overclocked 9600GT ad ran AoC no probs, so thats $150 i your cash... 10% of your angry claim... the price of those are going down fast since ATI released their new cards...

AoC is not to blame for you going out and making an ill informed purchase... stop thinking your a god cause the machine was expensive and bought with your job... were not all little kids here... I payed about £300 quid for my current machine but took my time to find out what was best for my needs and sourced them from cheap suppliers. I'm not saying your machie will be crap but its probably not designed to play top end games. My freind payed a shed load for a laptop last week and to be honest it couldnt run WoW well... its not what its made for.

AoC is however buggy, shallow and Funcom is terrible at customer service... However i enjoyed my 1 and a half months playing...

You don't need an alienware pc or an $8000 gaming rig, many posters have already explained that to you and a realistic cost of a graphics card and you don't even need a store many retailers have websites that will deliver the part.

Accept that you made a mistake by not checking your pc spec and learn from it, don't start calling posters dumb because they have the sense to ensure their pc is capable of running a game

I think you guys are being a little harsh on the OP , Sure he made a PC newb mistake. His frustration is understandable however, I'd hate to spend money on crap like he did.

OP just check out newegg.com , You should be able to find a card for fairly cheap that would run AOC. No need for you to travel they'll ship it to you . You might also want to look into buying more ram(if under 2gigs) If you plan on using it for pc gaming . 80 bucks and your set in the ram department.

Yeah this has always been an issue with any game....if you dont do a bit of searching, nowadays there are so many different types and copies of hardware that you just have to be careful.

And it is kind of rolling the dice with AOC.  I have run it at 20-25fps with a few tweaks and rather low end scale. with a AMD 3000+  1.2 Ghz , 1 gig of ram and a 6600 nvidia with 512 ram.     Yes it sucks and technically doesnt even meet minimum specs for AOC, but i still  have played AOC on it.

Sorry OP but you failed as a consumer. Always do your research before you make a big purchase or a purchase that is big to your available income.

Retailers and other companies that sell products could care less if you bought something that isn't working for your needs. This is why we need to research things before making decisions because these people only care about one thing only and thats the $$$.
