The download client is very, very big and with the rate its going (1-30kb) the ETA is 2 months.

There is a way to speed it up though, read this:

  • "If you're having trouble with the torrent, there's a neat little workaround. Grab a torrent client that lets you isolate and grab individual files, and just download warpatch.exe, patch.myp and patch.cfg (they're all incredibly small, under 2mb altogether). Cut and paste them into a Warhammer folder and open the patch, make sure to check off the scan-all-files box and let it download through there. It's pretty slow for a direct download but it's at least 7-8 times as the torrent."

My friend did this, and I did the normal Torrent version and I beat him by 3 hours.  I was getting 150-250kb/s though on average.

I don't know if you downloaded the client a month ago, but right now, the torrent rate is VERY slow.

Pain is fear leaving the body..

Which torrent did you use? I am trying utorrent, (my port is fowarded already) and still can't break the 30 kb/s average on my cable service..

Called the cable company and they said that the torrent server I am on isn't allowing more than that rate..

Eleven seeders

Which torrent service? Does flashnet or averus do that? Or do you know of a good one?

I'd recommend uTorrent to start, since it's very light weight and easy to use. I'll provide step by instructions for installation, port forwarding, and finally using a .torrent file.

1) Go to http://www.utorrent.com and click "Get uTorrent"
2) Run the .exe file to run the installer, following on-screen instructions for your own preferences.
3) Run the program
4) From the menu go to Options -> Speed Guide
5) Click "Test if port is forewarded properly". A browser window will open and tell you if data can get through the port. If not we must either select an open port or open one ourselves!

I use a linksys router, so i'd follow the instructions found in the following link. However, using the link in the above section you can find step by step instructions for your own router.

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/Utorrent.htm

6) When you open a .torrent file with uTorrent a box appears asking where to save the files too. It also shows the files that will be downloaded and some other options. You can just specify a directory and click ok and the download will start.

You'll see the download in the main uTorrent window as well as stats such as the number of seeds, peers, your share ratio, download speed, etc...

So you may see something like 43 seeds 741 peers. That means 43 people are sharing the complete file, and 741 people are downloading from them AND every other peer in the swarm. Obviously your download speeds are determined by how many Seeds and Peers you can connect to. But the beauty is that the more people there are the higher speeds you can get! On my 10Mbit/s cable I've seen downloads over 1 megabyte per second!

Check out this helpful guide too: http://torrentfreak.com/speed-up-your-torrents/

C&P...thx goes out to Romple

Just use µTorrent or BitComet, thats what I use.

Download the client, either from the official site or from TorrentReactor/ThePirateBay, then select all the files that has "patch" in it, and move them to a seperate folder. From there, run WarPatcher.exe, and off you go, fella.
