Well there will be FFA... with 2 exceptions... you cant attack your own side, meaning order or destruction... and you cant go into a lower level tier to gank... so no killing lvl 10s with lvl 25...

And why would you want to kill low level players or your own side anyway?

 

There are no exceptions to FFA, it is either FFA or it is not. Any exceptions will make it cease to be FFA by definition.

And the reason why you would want to kill low level players is because that is the only way to control an area. If you cant kill or scare people who are trespassing on an area you have claimed then you cant have real territorial control and real guild politics. As for them being on "my" side, as I said before, I want to decide who is on my side, not the devs.

Anyway it can be hard to understand because it is a different way of looking at PvP. Not worse or better, just different.

Makes me want to vomit. We the players interested in this game do NOT want your FFA crap. MMO's are about community and ffa ruleset make that community stupid. You hate everyone and everyone hates you , outside of your little gang.

And you got it backward , you don't decide who you fight. DEV makes the game the way they want , it's for you to like it or not . Try AoC if you want boring ffa.

The setting is a war. Like WW2 , as a british you might not liked fighting with americans ( just an exemple) but you sure don't shoot them in the back because you feel like it.You are allied and have a common ennemy. As country politics goes out the windows in said scenario , so does your "guild politics" small scale crap. The ennemy is invading our cities. FFA is completly retarded with the design of this game.

Mythic will never give you FFA. So just stop , it's not happening . move along to another game.

That last sentence kind of scared me...

but anywho...yah, there won't be FFA servers. Just stop bashing the dude for liking FFA. THis is obviously not the game for him, so let this thread die and we can move on with our lives.

FFA is good in concept and would fit better in a world with a steampunk or futuristic setting because that's what you have today - gangs have territory and they can betray each other, but they choose who they want to ally with and for how long. If they do stab someone in the back they better be prepared for some retribution. But WAR is a different type of game.

I honestly think there's some FFA PvP games around the corner, or at least games with FFA servers. WAR would do something like that if it weren't for the fact that it goes 100% against their lore. If you're fighting for your survival, why would you kill your allied soldier? Just because he called your momma fat? No, it's a different type of thinking.

Though, the best thing I would like about FFA PvP is if someone annoyed you too much...

Mark has said there will not be an FFA server. The game isn't designed for it. If you are wanting FFA go play an FFA game, this game was never advertised as FFA. In fact they never said PvP, they always call it RvR. PvP detontes 1 on 1. RvR is how they balance and tweak the game.

FFA (ala choose your own allies) is a flawed mechanic at best and tends to only work in games that are designed specifically for it or games who's IP revolves around it.  Warhammer has never let players make up their own 'sides' it wouldnt' be Warhammer if the dev's allowed this I don't understand your grounds here OP. 

This is Warhammer your either for the Empire, Chaos, Greenskins, Dwarves, Tomb Kings, etc etc there is no "I'm for the RedMorons Clan".  

This constant stance by certain types of people make no damn sense if you want a game that plays that way don't bother coming to forum boards for IP based games.  Go complain on D&D online where you SHOULD be able to do this, Anarchy Online, EQ2, etc etc games that are more 'freeform' where the world isn't already 'designed' to its fullest extent. 

I'm just waiting for complaints on Star Trek to start "How come I can't have a federation ship but be aligned with the Klingons and the Borg instead?" stupid remarks.

Honestly some of you guys are getting worked up over nothing. All he said was he enjoys FFA type game play over faction based game play. He was asking a simple question if this game will have something FFA or if it's only faction based. I don't see why you guys have to bash him and say "You're kind isn't welcome in our game." That was just immature and rude, I don't think he ever once said "Hey, WAR should have FFA PVP where I can kill everyone because I want to." He just asked if there was a designated server type.

but really...you should check out Mortal Online or Darkfall. I really think you would enjoy those games.

THe problem is people often tend to say they just want the answer to 1 specific question long after a war errupts.  If you want an answer to a question directly ask it don't pussy foot around with long winded narratives on why you think this game is scripted etc etc because frankly no one cares what you like and that thats the reason your asking your question. 

If your intent was to know if it had FFA then flat out ask that way anyone that slams you for not knowing Warhammer Lore would be the ass instead of you.  Its obvious from your original post you got exactly what you wanted a long winded flame debate war.   Whats funny is I'm pretty sure you asked something similiar to this months ago adn you got the same reaction a repeat is rather sad and some would consider it trolling.

Like I said if you want FFA decide your own allies game you have to look to Original IP games not games that have both sides already set in stone for 25 years like Warhammer.

I will follow the norm here and post something someone already posted earlier on.

You should definitely try out EVE Online if you haven't already, it is filled with politics, alliances and corporations where you choose who to fight with, you fight to control your own part of space etc.

I've read articles about people infiltrating alliances/corporations to tear them apart from the inside and take over their territories and assets.

I've not played this game a whole lot, just a few months total with longer breaks inbetween as it has a steep learning curve, but overall I would say it is the perfect FFA PvP oriented (not 100% PvP oriented though, alot of other things are thrown in the mix) game. And to date I would say it is probably the best MMO I have played.

Oh, maybe I should mention there are alot of systems/regions where PvP isn't allowed, you can try but Concord (pretty much the space police) will come and kill you if you attack people in these areas, but the majority of space is low security without Concord interacting.

So, check out the game, you can get a 14 day trial aswell.

Enough of the ranting, and slightly back on the whole forum topic - I sure hope WAR will work out
