It could be a loss leader -- a product that gets people in the door. Star Wars sells -- that much is certain. People try the game out because it's Star Wars -- then SONY Viral marketers spread the line that EQ2 is a much better game, and the only reason the game is bad is LA "forced the NGE." People then try EQ2 and find that it IS a much better game, so they start playing that one.

 

It might be worth keeping afloat for that reason alone. Plus they actualy soend so little on it, it might just clear a small profit.

The problem with that theory is that SWG is no longer in box/CD production.  It has been almost two years since a boxed version of the game was produced for retail (the 'Complete' collection).  There is a trial version of the game in the Best of Star Wars box ('Five of the best Star Wars games!  Oh, and a trial of SWG too...'  It really does say basically that on the back of the box), but LEC wasn't even able to sell the 50K run of the Complete box, so they obviously feel the game has no retail value.

you are the only person here who thinks jestor is on a "crusade". those of us with a sense of humor are able to look back on the travesty that is swg/soe and laugh. what makes no sense is your constant attacks

against jestor and other vets. we are here to remember the game that was and blow off steam....you seem obsessed with deriding anyone who posts derogatory comments about  soe/swg. that's why everyone calls you a fanboi. and as far as "marching in lockstep".....um....yeah. you sure are fond of that term. nobody here marches. there is no former player organization dedicated to ending swg. get over the hate man.

No, I deride people who post derogatory comments about the CURRENT PLAYERS, and those who make outlandish comments, "predictions" and "estimates" on subscription numbers. And actually, Jestor is the first person in a long time to actually drop the "fanboi" bomb on me. Most people who actually READ what I post and can see why I post it do not.
