well im looking for a new mmo to play, only other experience ive had is EQ2 and WoW

i think wow is gay/lame so im not going to play that cartoonish 1337kiddie crap, eq2 seems to have died so im not going to resub to pvp against myself

doesnt look like there are very many options, i was really considering AoC but after doing alot of reading it seems that it would be a waste of money and time as ive heard nothing but bad news..

even with all the crap talk about AoC im still considering just trying it out because nothing else is really appealing to me..

what im looking for is some opinions or point of direction to help me find a solid mmo worth playing atm, besides WOW of course

First, I want to praise you for your accurate reviews of other games mentioned in your post.

As far as which MMORPG to play, I think we are in a decade long era of playing a "stop gap" game until something truly worthwhile comes along.  While WOW has been the stop gap game from 2004 to 2008, I think Warhammer Online will fill its shoes when it releases next month.

So there you go:  Warhammer Online.  Probably your best bet.

Trust us when we say you should not try AOC. Heck I would waste my time playing this game before ever starting AOC as a new player. mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/93

You could give us some information about your likes and dislikes? Does it matter if it's fantasy or sci-fi?

I like Guild Wars for PvP and PvE. It was also my first mmo (Not to OP: Yes I consider it an mmo and no I won't argue semantics over it). One of the benefits is no monthly fee.

If you like sci-fi too, steam has a 21 day trial for eve which is what I'm playing. The trial could hold you over until war.

City of Heroes has fun, if repetitive PvE. The fast-paced combat appealed to my ADD.

For F2P I like requiem because it doesn't look like one of the hundreds of korean F2Ps.

Im in the same boat. I have a 60day game card laying on my desk never been opened for wow and i dont plan on opening it. My gf bought me it thinking i still played wow but i don't. My pc wont handle war and im in know state to upgrade my pc right now...

I would recommend Vanguard.

Do you know when SOE is going to have free trials for vanguard and for that matter PotBS?

Vanguard trial goes up some time in August. Its taken so long because the client needs to be made to a size worth downloading, but Vanguard is a huge game. I'm testing the trial island on the test server as we speak.

well before i quit eq2 bout year and a half ago, i heard vanguard was gunna be the new mmo to play. alot of my guildies were gunna eb switching..

i heard/read it was a flop upon release and gave up hope for mmo.. couldnt really play atm anyway

after searching for new mmo i was looking at aoc that sounded sweet to me(conan fan) but thats a no go(unless they can turn the community around)

was also looking as vanguard and seems things have improved over time, but still read alot about barren servers etc..

maybe someone could tell me more about vanguard, pointers/flaws etc would help
