Probably not but it is possible.

EA used to have poor forums for their games and there was a level of apathy towards them.  Improved forums, podcasts, etc have lessened the hate towards EA and it has actually helped sell their products better IMVHO (eg Command and Conquer franchise).

Well Id think they would Mythic only said they wouldnt be having any forums on their site EA has never said they wont make forums for WAR just like any other of their games, and thats about the most official of a forum for WAR it could get.

I would hope so, but I wouldn't assume it to be the case until they confirm that there will be forums run by EA.

I don't know what people you mean, but as far as I can see no one is saying Mythic CAN'T moderate a forum properly, just that they don't WANT to. And who can blame them really? Look at AOC's forum, look at WOW's forum and tell me you would want that crap on your hands.

I personally am happy with in game help for MMOs, and email address, and the fan sites. Ican tell you this much, once I am playing the game the fan sites will no longer hold any interest for me. I will only visit them if I need a question answered.

I  don't really care one way or another about an official forum but I'm just curious how they will handle technical issues.  The technical forum is generally the one that is more useful on an official forum than a fan forum.

Forums would be great but not require. Anyway why would they want to hear us tell them how great their game is? Honestly people why?

have you checked wow forums latly ? its more bitching then decent discussions. Even this forum has its ups and lots of downs and its not even the official forum

Having official forums allows company's to HIDE away the discontent players have with the game (ie Age of Conan offical forums = major troll and whinge fest).  They're a complete waste of time. 

It is better to have public non-associated forums for players to publically peruse.  Greater transperancy and honesty.

Then Mythic is doing the right decision and it's a great company. This is what all the fanatics choose to think.

 

But... if you rather think that:

Better to have well moderated official forums than unofficial forums.

Eeeeeeexactly.  I've been thinking right along these lines.  I added one for you. lol only semi-serious.

 I guess I applaud them for doing what they can by stripping out stuff they simply couldn't accomplish but at what point does it stop looking positive?  I just hope what's left of the total effort is enough.  I'll say it again... if they've figured out a way to make pvp scenarios so damn fun that it becomes all you really care about kinda like counterstrike was but for the rpg world then I won't card.  I'm just not sure what I'm seeing in vids will do that.

Yep.  Warhammeralliance seems to be posing as close as possible as the official forums--same art and all and it's definately the largest and most organised.  If you even post a legitimate concern there your thread gets closed.  I think Mythic knows they can't act that way on their own forums so they'll let their bad cop take the lead.

Do you even know what day it is?  Lay off the wacky tobacky.  IRL? What's the difference between a mmo player's opinion on a online forum or the one in your bedroom?  And we're talking about a website forum not in-game chat.
