If it contains the words video and game, it must be a WOW clone. |

And still are. I hardly find something stated about whining ,women and shoes to be degrading , it's normal everyday cultural satire. I've seen woman make jokes about materialism aimed at themselves many times. The problem isn't what was said , it's who said it and the environment they said it in . A mod has no place bringing such satire to his/her job.A joke is fine here and there given the context is in line with the issue , in this case it wasn't.That context wouldn't be appropriate in any aspect of his job.Calling customers whiners is never a good idea for a paid or volunteer employee. It's not a big deal IMO. I don't like Lufkin though, for sure. |

Really not surprised. Would be one of many times I've seen funcom employees acting unprofessional and immature on forum posts. ----------------------------------------- |

As far as I understand you are so passionate about hating everything FC related that even if a Mod posted "Goodmorning" you would find reasons to want him fired and FC shutdown. For me his comment is OK, it is humorous and it does not insult anyone. Women never deny that they like pricey shoes anyway! |

There is a big difference between what Lufkin said & for example Buffy & Willow at the end of the final season discussing 'Massive Shoe Cravings'. Lufkin's comments were clearly intended as a derogatory dismissal of the OP's point & if he had chosen to use a religious allegory instead no doubt he would have been fired on the spot. As an Atheist I find it amusing that people are happy to make derogatory jokes about women or minority groups, but when it comes to religion the same people often take gross offense. Even though I am male & only buy new shoes when my current pair wears out, I found it offensive. If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"? |

Ugggghh, a whole thread about semantics.
I hate funcom as much as the next guy...and dislike the bumbling fool Lufkin just as much. I just prefer to pick and choose my battles, and frankly...this one has implications that reach way further in than some stupid video game.
Let me be very clear when I speak, I hate semantics. I think any discussion or debate which revolves around them to be a bloody WASTE of time when pressed against the thousand of very real, and very physical, problems we have in any given situation. I also feel that being caught up in an argument about semantics detracts from those real problems by taking the focus OFF of them.
In short, shut up. Seriously, shut up. We need ALL of the attention of, you know, serious stuff here. At best, all this kind of attention will accomplish is to ATTRACT immature people to the game. At worst, it makes everyone completely apathetic to us and what we have to say. Once the world is apathetic to your cause, your cause is dead. |

Forget this game. I'm tired of looking at AoC posts because everytime I do my blood pressure shoots up to about 180 from EXTREME ANGER
I'm going to go take a crap when I get home and use that leather map to wipe myself, then I'll use the art book for my cat's litter box. |

Originally posted by Syyth007 Its not PC, it just an excuse to try to get rid of an asshole. In this case I'm sure that 99% of the people complaining aren't offended by it. They just don't like Lufkin and despite his many arbitrary and capricious post closings, (my favorite is when he closes a valid thread because he doesn't like where it's headed.) he hasn't gotten fired as he deserves, so when he does something blatantly stupid, as this comment in question, everyone is going to jump on it. The point especially being that even though he is a 'volunteer' he is still working on behalf of and representing FC and I'm sure if anyone in authority saw what Lufkin was doing, he'd be fired by now. Lets not forget the hypocricy of someone who closes posts all the time because they are tolling, to post something that is basically a troll post. |

Not sure what the fuss is about, I'll have to check my Thought Police handbook. Perhaps some of you feel this guy is ignorant and stupid and thus should be silenced. Maybe you shouldn't discriminate against people of low intellect and suggest he is incapable of his job because of his implied level of intelligence. Heavens forbid, you may eventually start to suggest that he shouldn't do his job because of his ethnic origin. His ideas are most likely the product of a disadvantaged background because surely no one of privilege could entertain such barbaric notions. Maybe if he has the right skin tone that places the blame for his remarks soley on the society that created him, so you might want to inform the US so they can either start bombing his homeland or build a community centre in his neighbourhood. In the defense of the rights and respect you seem to cherish so much, perhaps you should respect people who are ignorant or just simply have different ideas to you. Or perhaps your tolerance only extends to those who fit within your framework of acceptability and is in fact just discrimination direct against those whose ideas conflict with yours. LOL, how ironic. Trying to excuse unnacceptable behaviour as being the fault of someone's upbringing is actually more PC than complaining about sexism. PS. I live in London too & it's not acceptable here either. If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"? |

Not sure obviously since I don't know you from Adam but I am forced to wonder if your attitude that sexism and the like should be taken more lightly would have to do with the fact that you aren't considered a minority? As I made a strong point in saying already I could be wrong but I very rarely hear this sentiment from someone who has had to live with absurd stereotypes. You honestly think this is different than when Don Imus says the things he says? I have a better idea all together instead of people chilling out how about all of us who do not share these feelings including you as you seem to allude stand up and demand better from these people why not consider that even though it didn't hurt you personally it certainly did someone who in no way shape or form deserved to be put down.
i think it was just blown out of proportion, people like to jump on people these days about the smallest things, example you jumping on me over what i posted, nothing i said was sexist , i just stated that people are over reacting and too serious, life is way too short to let something like this get to you. i think it was more tongue and check than anything else. nothing to start a revolution over. everyone lives with stereotypes, we are all stereotypes of some sort, some people get offended easier than others. No matter how much you do not like it , or how much it offends you, people are free to tell you what they think of you. I don't recall calling you sexist as a matter of fact I even went so far as to point out that you seemed to say the opposite that you in fact are not sexist but this response makes my point you saw that someone wanted to take you to task for something you said and though I never once said anything disparaging about you directly here you are pretty sensitive about it so now imagine if you happened to belong to the demographic that had been disparaged be it for sex race or age and you had not even said a word to the mod who diussed your demographic now once again point out to me why people should lighten up |
