Lord of the Rings Online

i decided to go out and buy this game. last time i played was during beta. wasnt to bad then for me just been involved in EQ for a while and didnt want to split up my time too much. now i have some time to really check it out. the graphics look great. i have a nice system for it. actually built this system to play AOC which didnt turn out so well even though i had more then enough of a system to do so.

thinking im going to go with the captain class on brandywine server. i also have a friend who started a trial and is buying the game today. anyone here on this server know of a nice size guild with lots of active people to join?

just patching now...lots to catch up on too. i dont have vista in atm so cannot check out the graphics with DX10. though i would really like to. for me though dx10's graphics improvements is secondary to how the games will utilize the video card. will take a load off of the cpu and place is on the gpu more. shader 4 is a nice bonus as well for me. anyways, if anyone has info about that guild or any other cool info to help me along with being a captain, it would be greatly appreciated. cheers.

its nice to see that turbine added all kinds of content but damn it sure is hell to patch to full from the dvds. already on 6 hours and looks like i have another 3-4 to go. it would be nice if they just allowed a download of one file then once it is done, do the install of the patch. this is kind of rediculous to say the least ha.

Strange I just downloaded the entire client from online(did the free-trial and upgraded after playing a few days) and the download of the full client only took about 4 hours.. what is your download speed at?

60-100kb/s for the most part. im also downloading all high rez textures too. though not sure how much of  difference that would make. still sucky download speeds and i know its not my end cause i can download 500kb/s - 1mb/s depending on the site.

The hi-rez is totally worth it. You will be glad.

My experience was exactly the opposite.  High res textures, but I was getting 1.1 MB/s.

They must be doing some sort of internal maintenance.

I'm on Dsl @ 150KB and it took me 1 hour to patch the client from a fresh install. You may want to get Ad-Aware spyware scanner, it is free.

How do I know if I have the Hi-rez textures?
