I just watched the latest POD cast and I find it dishartening. the developer showing the changes made them sound much more permante than MJ did. the way he spoke it sound s like the other 4 capital cities are history never to return. All content has been moved to the the two remaining cities. I originaly was all for the idea of the cuts they made but now I have to say it is sounding like a bait and switch. Do they have any intention of putting in the other 4 cities? he spoke about people preferring to protect certian cities and said they didn't want that. Who in the hell are they to tell me what I want to do I'm the paying customer. I was all for holding out content to get it right. I am not for changing the basic of the game with a lame ppromise to "add it later at some point maybe if the moons full" mythic has bad habit of not carrying through on promised fixs (hey any mids out there still waiting on the mid love patch?) I'd like to thank the developer for talking strait and showing me that these are permant CHANGES and not just delayed contentfixes or work arounds. I personally think seeing cities defended by thier own races with 10% or 15% allies from other races was going to be very unique. I may still play depending on reports from beta but think mythic may be pulling a fast on with it's maybe later promises.
What do you think?

They've mentioned the most likely system will be this system permanently, unless it's so horribly horrible that everyone quits (HIGHLY unlikely). They will get the other cities in but it'll be like a cycle, so you can have Altdorf and I.C. pair but once one of them gets sieged you move to the Karaz pair. However the cities will still be Tier 5. This could all turn out to be better than the original system, we don't know yet. Things change in development and we were never promised anything. Just want to make that clear. -------------------------------------- Order of the White Border. |

I think it will still be fun, but will get old after a while. But thats with every game, as long as they can add the other cities and content, and atleast do the city rotation Idea, I'll be happy. As I would love to see the cities looking differnt from the inside and such :) Currently restarting World of Warcraft :/ |

Personally, I feel the Devs are going to have a wait and see policy on adding in the other cities. I will enjoy seeing my fellow Destro races battling alongside me instead of them having to level to get to me and vice versa. This cutdown may have been a blessing in disguise. Im all for more content as long as its not unbalancing and unpolished. |

From the beginning of the city cutannouncement i have been on the fence.
Mainly the issues is a) they talked up multiple cities and b) the choice of city is an interesting and novel idea.
But I always had major reservations about the multiple city idea because: 1) it has the potential to seriously mess with the populations you need for the conflicts by spreading people out and confusing them. 2) Originally the design seemd to call for much more separation between races even on the same side. That sort of separation make the population issue worse and messes with people's ability to play with firends.
In the end I am marginally leaning towards thinking that what they did was smart. I don't actually think the 3 cities per side would work well even though is some ways it seems good. |

I'm a hardcore WAR fan but I have to agree, the podcast did sound kinda iffy.
at first it was "the cities weren't finished, we'll get them fixed and then put them in"
now it seems like "6 cities was moving the game in a direction we didn't like, so we are changing it to 2, so now they'll be bigger"
game breaker? not for me, but I still don't like it. Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats. |

you had me for a minute, but then you had to say your waiting on a mid love patch. lmao you ether quit playing, or are oblivious to daoc. mid is the strongest realm by a long shot. as far as the pod cast goes. well, your glass is half empty approach to it kinda baffled me. i saw nothing in there that said maybe later. all i saw was positive. but hey my glass is half full. oh by the way your the paying customer playing a game they created. if they come out with half done cities and cough AoC cough. then what.
you my friend need a positive out look on things. <img src='http://lotrosigs.level3.turbine.com/0320200000031cd29/signature.png'></img> |

He was describing how the system that will work at launch only. He didn't talk about the other cities cause they not going be in at launch. Its how the game will work at launch and sounds good to me still. |

Altough the cities were never promised to be in the game, I still feel like they shouldn't of said anything about them if there was a chance they wouldn't be in. For all of the money they will make off this, and a lot of that coming from people who have been into Warhammer for many years, I would like to see them add this stuff over time. Warhammer has a rich history, and a lot of devoted people. I feel if they don't step it up a little bit they will alienate a lot of long time fans. I will play the game either way, but if some of the issues people foresee come to life, i will very much consider stop playing. With all the monthly fees and ridiculousness they owe it to the people to continually make the game better. If they really want people to play for 10 years or whatever it is, this is what they will have to do. Otherwise i agree with others that after a few years people will be tired of it. I'm still super excited about this game though. |

I think the way they changed the cities is great. I think it'll be awesome to get the other 4 cities in and have it on a rotation basis. Each time a city siege happens, it all resets and switches to the next pair. That would be a TON of content to be cycling through over and over, I think it would be better than the way they originaly planned it because then everyone would have been to spread out and not focused together on accomplishing one goal. What I don't get is how are they losing content? Listen, they have FIVE Tiers now. Yes, there's only two massive, huge, detailed cities, but they're not in Tier 4 anymore. ALL cities have been replaced by the end-game Fortresses, which means there's 6 total...just like there was supposed to be six cities. Granted, the Fortresses aren't as awesome as the cities, and there's no King fights, but they're still heavily fortified and will be hard to take. And you need to hold two of them before you can even attack the city. This means city raids will be truly spectacular, something that WILL require all 6 races working together. It's called realm pride, not race pride, for a reason. They have a good replacement system that, in my opinion, IS better. -------------------------------------- Order of the White Border. |

something planned does not equal a promise, otherwise they would have promised the cities instead of planning it.. same problem I have @ work. Customers whining because I couldnt implement certain features that where PLANNED

If you look at is as they have estimated in one of Paul's comments the average for a Capital siege to even occur is once a month. If they do add the other 4 cities back in and do the cycle rotation once the previous group has reset then that is plenty of content for the first 6 months to a year of play. The fact that they overloaded the extra PQ and RVR events from the other cities that were in development is great. So now when they finally do roll out the new caps they will have to be at least as good as the Empire and Chaos cap builds or better. Knowing this they have set the bar higher for them selves then if they would have just left them in. |

If all the content of the 3 cities (per side) have been rolled up into one, that means nothing is lost. I didn't see anything about quests specifically mentioned in the 'massive' fortresses but I can't imagine they have a huge place sitting in each realm with no quests. 'Sure..throw some walls down there..they'll all flock to it and defend...we don't need to add content since they just need a place to duck from arrows...' In general I just feel a bit miffed that the Humes and Chaos monkeys get the big cities in their respective areas. I don't know about Chaos but the Emperor only ruled over Human lands. (Maybe there will be Demi-bosses in the form of racial leaders in each fort or something).
Oh well. I'm still salivating over it all. |
