I Fight for the Hand, I''ll die for the hand.

Okay so about a month ago, some discussions took place around the port in altdorf and its beautiful waters and boats.

And one poster was immensly displeased about the fact that you could not swim. Now I don't know where he got the idea that you could not swim in WAR but at the time I hadn't heard any news on the subject either, but I could have cared less. I'm buying the game for the rvr and pve not so I can swim, or watch a bunch of dwarfs stripped down to thier under garments swimming.

Now I don't know if its public news, but for all my WAR watching and drooling I just found out that there is swimming in the game. In this months grab bag, the last question deals with the magus and his disc when it comes to water.

Q: How does the disc work with character movement (swim, jump, etc)?

A: The magus is always on his disc. As such his animations look different for the same behaviours a player on foot would have.

  • Run / Walk / Sprint – Hovering / Flight
  • Jump – Quick Altitude change
  • Swimming – Disc Skims the surface of the water (you cannot swim UNDER water in WAR

I know it seemed trivial, but some people seemed a little hurt that there would be no swimming.

Can you attack or be attacked while in the water? Or is it going to be some immunity haven for players?

Q: “How many Obamas does it take to screw in a lightbulb?”
A: “That’s not funny! You racist hatemonger!”

This reminded me of the only game I can recall releasing with no option for swimming. That would be Horizons. When you came to deep water, you simply walked along the bottom until you drowned. It was pitiful. Most now have just the swimming animation along the surface. I still give kudos to Blizzard though. Swimming in WoW is a grand experience and often has a purpose. I love it.

As the OP says it is.(swimming on top of the water no diving) it'll be fine.

Your not exactly going to be swimming that often anyway, just looking at the maps of zones.

Bitefight links are not referalls, they are the way to gain xp in the game.

swimming under water is one of my favorite things for eq2, heck you have to swim under the sea to get to some zones and theres quest for underwater items as well, i am not pleased with the no underwater swimming.

when you have a bitefight link to your vampire to bite people the mods will warn you it is a referall link, it is not a referall, it is the way you get xp in the game by bighting people

"And that''s the way the cookie crumbles"

There is no swimming. That means...if there is a line of tanks on the bridge...you can't just go around them. You have to fight. I think it's a brilliant idea for this type of game.

EDIT: I thought they said there would be no swimming at all *shrug*

I had no idea that you couldn't swim in WAR.

That automatically makes the world feel like a enclosed space, and that there are a lot of things you can't do or see. What the hell was the problem there? O_o

If you can find me some In Lore Races & Civilizations in Warhammer that are underwater then I'll understand your displeasure...there's no reason to add a bunch of crap just becase players want it.  Next peoplewill bitch "I can't Fly to the Moon like I could in EQ1 thats suxxors!"

There's no reason to send your troops underwater to die in Warhammer unless their ship sinks.

YOU CAN SWIM IN WAR you just don't DIVE.

He was talking about going under the water, what people usually mean by swimming.

last time I went swimming I didn't dunk myself under water does that mean I wasnt' swimming? *rolls eyes* Swimming doesn't involve submerging ones self in the water...Diving means Submerged in the water.
